No otori takes place in just september, though right at the end it skips to march (I think). to Its confusing because Nadekos speaking as if its an actual spoiler but it could just be her imagination. Like you say its probably like a volume 1 of the last book

There is no words or image to represent how good I feel right now.

EDIT: I can't help but feel that the other novels undermine what this upcoming novel is trying to bring. We know Araragi is still alive because of Hana and we know the world gets destroyed if anything happens to Araragi in Kabuki. The ending is pretty much determined already.

BTW in the official anime guidebook where Nisio has an interview with all of the seiyus he asked Hanazawa what kind of character she wants to do she said that she wanted to do an evil character since she had never done something like that. Afterwards Nisio said he'll turn Nadeko into one. Looks like the everything came to be at that point.

Crap. If this is a real spoiler...now I have to choose between finishing the Macross novels, which I actually have on hand, or catching up on this series using digital copies, as I stupidly left most of the novels at home...

What do you mean by 'third season'?

Sorry, the 'half a year' is actually referring to when we'll see the end of this story. Otori takes place end Oct/early Nov. It all begins on Halloween, and the main part of the story seems to take place over a couple of days.

Spoiler for longer summary-translation:

Basic points

The atmosphere in Nadeko's class is strained, and as class rep, she's been pressed to do something about it.
She calls Koyomi for advice, after which the serpent tells her to go to the shrine, whereupon it presses her, as the perpetrator (Nadeko Snake), to atone for what she caused by finding some remains of the snakes she killed.
She tries not to involve Koyomi this time, but he finds her at night* and takes her to his house. She manages to hide what she's doing from him.
Er...Shinobu prevents them from sleeping on the same bed, and later, has a short conversation with Nadeko when Koyomi passes out, telling her that it's only because she (Nadeko) is cute that she stirs up protective feelings (in Koyomi). "Are you lucky that you happen to be cute."

In the morning, Nadeko wakes with Karen Tsukihi beside her, and they chat about appearances, falling in love (ren'ai) and Koyomi having a GF, which Nadeko knew about before.
Nadeko feels resentment about Hitagi, ends up snapping at her teacher and her class, and leaves school early.
The serpent tells her that the remains are at the Araragi house, so she goes there and rummages through Koyomi's room. She finds his porn mags and reads 3 of them, and the bookmark turn out to be the remains.
The serpent tells her that, as a reward, it'll grant her a wish... Unsurprisingly, she wants Koyomi to like her back, but is told that it isn't possible.
Koyomi returns, and cautions her to put the ofuda down, but because of misunderstanding and Shinobu's provocation, Nadeko eats the ofuda and turns into a kaii.

Turns out that the serpent this time was just Nadeko being delusional, as she's been going crazy since she found out that Koyomi had a GF (she found out at the start of second semester, i.e. end Aug/early Sep).
Since the Nadeko Snake incident, she's been visiting that shrine.
When she met Ougi, there was no god at that shrine, so Izuko entrusted Koyomi with an ofuda which would become a god.
Since that day, Nadeko has lied to Koyomi about being able to see the serpent, and actually planned to be found by Koyomi that night* so that she could steal a key to his house.
The ofuda (the bookmark) was what she was looking for the next day.

Nadeko tries to kill Koyomi, but then his phone rings. It's Hitagi, who tells Nadeko to kill her instead, but the latter says she'll kill them all. So Hitagi tells her that the order is important, because if Koyomi dies, Shinobu will return to being the legendary kaii-killer, so Nadeko will have to kill Hitagi, then Shinobu then finally Koyomi. Furthermore, if Nadeko's killing intent is certain ('eternal') rather than impulsive, Hitagi asks her to wait until after graduation.

Nice summary.
I think the one of most important bits was the conversation with Shinobu where you could really see her dislike and scorn of Nadeko, and says " Isnt it fortunate, that you happened to be cute" (there could be a better translation of this)
And Hitagi's I dislike "cute" brats like you
The main theme of the book was about Nadeko being "just cute"

With that being said, assuming something does happen every month then we have 5 more novel outside of the upcoming 3 since one them HAVE to be on August 2006 too.

In Hana most of the characters were accounted for, Kanbaru, Araragi and Karen actually appears, Senjougahara, Tsubasa, Tsukihi and Shinobu were mentioned in way that makes them seem still alive and Mayoi is already dead. The only one not mentioned is Nadeko.

With Otori taking place in Oct/Nov, Oni in August and what seems to be Koi in March looks like we'll have to wait until season 3 before we find out how they met Ougi and the truth behind her/him.
