I'm replaying as a mage now; which specialization would you recommend? (i plan to have wynne as a party healer) The mage class is pretty fun - you can really take full control of the battle instead of just standing in front of the mob hacking away, you have more important responsibilities ( or you can blitz on one target if you want) like crowd control, spot healing, and having a mob chase you (since you're usually far away) can earn you some time to heal someone if its on cooldown. The mage class is definitely baddass. I love the combos you can use like using freeze or petrify from one mage and then shattering the mob with the spirit cage or letting the melee dps shatter them.

Just beat the game, and it seems that the end is suggesting that there's gonna be a sequel or expansion for the game.

Mage PC build?

Origin: Arcane Bolt
1) Winter's Grasp + Frost Weapons
2) Cone of Cold
3) Blizzard
4) Mind Blast
5) Force Field
6) Telekinteic Weapons
Ostagar Talent) Crushing Prison
7) Life Drain
8) Death Magic
9) Curse of Mortality
10) Death Cloud
11) Mana Drain
12) Mana Cleanse
13) Spell Might
14) Spell Clash

(By this time, you should've unlocked bloodmage if you went Circle Tower-->Redcliffe, reloaded before you unlock bloodmage and then pick talent tome instead, and you should have enough gold to buy all three arcane books)

Redcliffe bonus talent) Blood Magic
Desire tome) Blood Sacrifice
Arcane tome 1) Blood Wound
Arcane tome 2) Vulnerability Hex
Arcane tome 3) Affliction Hex
15) Misdirection Hex
16) Death Hex
17) Blood Control
18) Spell Wisp
19) Arcane Shield
20) Staff Mastery
21) Arcane Mastery
22) Walking Bomb
Landsmeet) Death Syphon
23) Virulent Walking Bomb
24 if you get it) Animate Dead

Cold line because Cone of Cold is too powerful, while Blizzard helps by being your first AoE. Crushing Prison line for Force Field and Prison.

Death Cloud line next because you need a spell line that affects undead.

Spell Clash line next to get rid of public enemy #1 easily.

Blood Control gives you much needed non-friendly fire CC.

Death Hex line next to complete the powerful Entropic Death nuke.

Spell wisp is the best one point wonder in the game.

Arcane mastery for the additional spellpower since you filled out the necessary spell lines. Virulent Walking Bomb for killing the last boss faster.

Specs should be Blood Mage for CC, and Spirit Healer just for the bonuses. Attributes should be max magic. Really easy to equip as well, since you just need to worry about +cold and +elec gear on top of +spellpower gear.

As for Wynne.

Starts with...
Arcane Bolt, Rock Armor, Stone Fist, Heal, Rejuv, Regen, Heroic Offense, Heroic Aura, Group Heal

8) Revival
9) Mass Rejuv
10) Earthquake
11) Heroic Defense
12) Life Ward
13) Spell Wisp
14) Grease
15) Spellbloom
16) Vulnerability Hex
17) Affliction Hex
18) Misdirection Hex
19) Death Hex
20) Stinging Swarm
21) Arcane Shield
22) Staff Mastery
23) Arcane Mastery

Earthquake for helping people stay inside blizz AOE so that they freeze.

Lifeward only because cleansing aura sucks

Heroic Defense for your dodge tank.

Spellbloom spam for so that your PC mage gets consistent +mana regen. Stinging swarm is a mana effecient nuke that you don't have to worry firendly fire about.

Death Hex to piggy back on death cloud so you do 2x entropic death, while staff mastery because Wynne won't be nuking.

I'm crossing my fingers. A lot of new DLC is welcomed and sequel is inevitable if you ask me

Well, in terms of DLC, I'd rather a few but long, enjoyable ones over many short ones (Soldier's Peak was... way too short, not even an hour). Shale's quest was longer and fit in better with the main storyline so I consider it to be relatively well done. Nevertheless, I look forward to Return to Ostagar. Problem is however, is that eventually Bioware's going to have to compete with a few really talent modding teams who would have released the same quality of work but for no price (talking mostly about PC; not sure about 360/PS3). As it is, I've already seen several ambitious projects being undertaken by modders such as the Grey Warden's Calling, a Tevinter Imperium campaign and whatnot. Modding's got to be the best/worst thing about the game: best being that you can do anything and everything (having so much fun playing through as an Elvish archer with an archer fix mod (they're actually a viable class line with it): http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=216 ) and well, the worst being that you don't notice how the time flies when you have other things to do.

Anyways, you don't even have to beat the game to know that it's almost 100% guaranteed that there will be a sequel; the title alone already gives good indication, and there's just so much lore implemented if you browsed through the codex as you find them all. The Orlesian Empire, the qunari, mention of 7 Old Gods (with 4 already defeated; not sure if this should be spoiler tagged), Weisshaupt Fortress... and the list goes on. It's enough for more than one sequel/several expansions in my opinion.

Dragon Age: Origins takes place during the fifth Blight. So only two Archdemons remain. And yeah, there will be, without a doubt, a sequel. Probably even two.

That DLC thing irks me. I'd rather have them release an expansion for 25$ with like 10 hours of gameplay instead of one hour DLCs for 5$ each. It feels like I'm subscribed for a singleplayer MMO.

Yeah I thought that the Warden's Keep DLC was going to be longer as well, despite being enjoyable it was incredibly short especially if done late in the game where your characters are strong enough to plow through without trouble, but thats the best time to do it since it'll make the armor set a top tier.

Ah, yeah. I guess my post was ambiguous but essentially that was what I said (meant as of current ingame story progression before the actual battle at Denerim). The fifth Old God of beauty or whatnot.

Anyhoooooo. Anyone an artist and mind filling this little template in so I can giggle?

http://vampirisa.deviantart.com/art/...MeMe-143952622

I'd do the template myself but alas, no art skills.

New patch is out guys. For those using PC version, its under social network ---> my games (up top bar) --> dragon age origins --> patches.

Now gonna test out whether Cone of Cold/Blizz/Force Field/Prison are still a must to get first...

what's the difference between playing online and offline then? 'cept the whole profile kind of thing

now playing with expansions, that golem Shale is making me raise my eyebrows, he is interesting.. but as long as he doesn't stomp on each bird he sees o.o;
It was fun to be attacked in camp, hope that happens more often but the extra's were so little.. gave 4 hours extra playtime for me and that was it, and that is the northern castle of grey wardens and Shale. I wish there was more

DLC's. DLC's are registered to the account that bought them, so you at least need to start up the game while logged in. Beyond that though, online is only for data feeback (allowing Bioware to pick out bugs) and profile uploading.

you mean like warden keep and stone prisoner as well as the extra amulets, swords and armors I presume D: (checked the site, I have those)
Return to Ostagar isn't out yet, right? I'll be looking forward to that but will probably be playing a city Elf by then

Playing online with the developer console (the entire ~ thing, such as `~runscript addxp X) also gets your character 'banned', or rather, it won't be updated anymore. And yes, DLC means the extra items/places/character. And RtO is not out yet. Probably next week or Christmas time, I presume.

And city elf is the only one who I played evil. I just get the vibe that he's not your cute and friendly Keebler Elf. Man, it felt so good shutting Wynne up permanently.

ooooh well I'll add that to my check list
I had great fun testing out all responses to break Alistair's heart ha ha
saved the game, slept with him then Zevran and was quite surprised of his response

I liked the whole "you're a funny man ha ha ha!" and him going "yesss.. funny man. Now excuse me while I go put my foot in my mouth" ha ha ha

opinions?

great game, but there are a few things missing.
1.) second half of the game is a little bit too short! though its asking for too much, there should have been another 7-10 hour main quest slipped in after or before the landsmeet.
2.) There are plenty of side quests, but thats not really the issue - its more like the lack of side-quest dungeons. Hopefully DLC's will fix this ( I want to get to dragons peak!)
3.) People complain about the difficulty, but I thought it was just right
4.) Another race or two would be great
5.) Slight lack of depth.. well relatively speaking, if you compare it to say NWN in terms of abilities and spells. I know its a different gameplay engine, but im sure more could have been transferred.
6.) I wish there was more interaction with the archdemon and the darkspawn .. they kind of just seem like mindless savages, not really unsettling. compare that to some of the epic enemies you fight during the rest of the game ( not to mention them being 'darker') the darkspawn kinda fall short. it would be awesome if they had a more 'burning legion' structure

All in all great game, better than nwn2 or mass effect in my opinion, but i still dont know if its better than nwn1. cant say i havent wasted a lot of time playing it though, 1st run through city elf/berskerker/champion 45 hours in and just started the landsmeet - as you can see most of my complaints are pretty damn trivial

Did you bring Shale to Caradin? It's the key to unlocking his personal quest.

Cheers.
