strong debut. i like everything except the character art.

Characters are great. I'm interested in all three of them already but Lisa is the one i'm most interested in.

but screw that, the plot is fantastic and i love that part the most.

Well its been licensed and is being streamed by Funimation, so the chances are pretty likely.

Watanabe? Check.
Saving anime? Check.

The first episode was absolutely riveting from start to finish. The tension was pretty much prevalent from start to finish too. Such is what happens when you have a fantastic director in Shinichiro Watanabe and an excellent composer in Yoko Kanno.

Oh wow. That was bloody brilliant, right from the off. The way the whole escape from the nuclear fuel reprocessing plant was shot was fantastic, and the building collapsing towards the end was chilling.
Resonance? No kidding.

Can't wait to see how this one develops as it's got off to a marvellous start!

That was an excellent first episode. The story, the characters, the OP and ED fit supremely well, most everything.

Really good. Hopefully it can continue like this!

Insta-follow.

Is it bad of me that the whole time the building was being destroyed, I just wanted to know the mechanics of their set up?

What type of explosives did they use? It seemed to react violently with the water from the sprinklers. Also, since Twelve told Lisa not to put the toy down until he told her, I'm guessing they are triggered by pressure once they are placed down on a surface. Since all those toys were at the store in the building before they got there, did they put all those bombs in the stuffed toys earlier to them arriving to the building, or did they put them in there that same day?

I'm really into this series and I'm hoping they will explain all this. Also, shouldn't the government be on a manhunt for a couple of terrorists that stole nuclear material?

And according to MAL, we will be seeing Five as well, who interesting enough, works for the FBI. I'm interested to see if she will be helping our two leads or will be hunting them down? Or perhaps a bit of both?

Great episode, it set the tone for an interesting premise, looking forward to see what unfolds.

My thoughts exactly, he just seems way too happy, I perdonally felt that "Nine" is the true protagonist and that "Twelve" will turn out to be more of an antagonist.

P.S. when he mentioned that "He likes ants" that alone may have said more than enough to feel disturbing.

My feeling after watching this is that I want a badass hero to come out and scoop up their @$$es so they won't be able to do anymore damages.

That was certainly a visual tour de force, and the story seems promising as expected. Definitely ballsy to have terrorists as the main characters. So far they fall neatly into the archetypes of aloof boy, genki boy and shy girl, but they're intriguing nonetheless, especially Toji with his rather uncanny smile and demeanor.

If you didn't think "God dammit not this shit again. Please have mercy! I guess it can't be anime without at least one token transfer student scene." you've not watched enough anime.
Who gets the seat by the window to boot. Truly a troperrific scene.

Not surprising that this is one of the least talked about titles so far. Shame. Shiniciro Watanabe is the industry's best active director right now and his talents come out in full force here. Absolutely amazing cinematography and I can't wait to see more. Seems like this is going to be a pretty nihilistic story.

Yes, an excellent start. We have close to no background info, but the surface was terrific. Nice action sequences and setting. Fun on motorcycles and 9/11 are a bit of an uncomfortable combination, but uncomfortable can be good.

Here's a characters/seiyuus page, with pics of the main characters and their seiyuus.

I didn't think I would like this much. Lol, I was wrong.

Like others said, this was my favorite first episode of the season followed by Aldnoah Zero and SAO II... This was fantastic... much more so than I was expecting.

This is certainly the highest quality work I have seen from any series so far this season.

It also feels... different from everything else... in a very compelling way that makes me want to know more about the premise. It's a bit interesting seeing a series where the MC's are psychopaths of sorts... or not... I mean one of them is probably a psychopath or they both are to some extent... but their behavior is very fascinating to me... I will say.

Also, the detective was instantly a boss in my book. I thought he was awesome when he noted that small detail about the video and the time. I was VERY impressed. I'm really sure that this series is a keeper for me. I dislike scary things... but meaningful things that are scary are a whole other can of worms. I only dislike horror because the purpose of horror is to be scary... I feel like the purpose of this series is to explore something else that is very different, which makes me very open to the interesting idea.

The show is off to a good start so far. I am curious about Nine and Twelve so far so I do want to know more about them like their motivations and back story. I also get the feeling that Twelve is the more messed up of the two and is hiding a lot underneath that smile. The Detective also looks like he might be interesting and I like how he caught on pretty quickly. I also cant wait to see what they do with Lisa.

Has the writer for this series been announced anywhere? I've yet to see anyone listed for series composition and the name credited for screenplay in episode 1 is obviously a fake.

Strong visual, strong cinematography, intriguing characters, the ongoing sense of claustrophobia, and the powerful imagery that goes back to the biggest recent tragedy in a developed country.

Yet I'm still not sold yet. Perhaps the 9/11 incident just doesn't scar me as much as I thought it did, the moment a similar scene comes up in this episode I'm more laughing at the audacity of even trying to replicate it than being wowed. It's a really solid debut no doubt, but compare with the image of people just turned to ashes instantly this one just doesn't hook me that much. The potential is certainly up there though.

Terrorists as protagonists? While this sort of thing happens in the Middle East or some developing countries all too frequently, I do wonder how the reception would be if some of the more mainstream press catches wind of this.

As for the episode itself, it was ok. Its only been one episode so not much to go on other than the whole comparison to mass shootings in the US or 9/11. Don't really know much about what motivates these two other than inference as being former research experiments and the like fighting against regular society.

Not sold on the show yet, but there's potential. As always with Watanabe, the execution is top notch, but that may not be enough for me. The ED is my favourite of the year, though.

The cinematography for this premiere beats pretty much everything else starting this season IMO. It has a very theatrical quality to it that keeps things engrossing even as it's mostly a build up and introduction to some principle characters that all seem really troubled to put it mildly. At first I wasn't too keen on Yoko Kanno's OST after listening to some samples since I'm really partial to the orchestral style she used primarily in the 90's but upon watching the first episode I can see that it actually does fit it quite well and adds to the atmosphere. I was kind of getting some Patlabor 2: The Movie vibes off of this premiere with that sort of unnatural every day city about to be plunged into the threat of persistent and seemingly indiscriminate terror by disgruntled militants with a point to make aesthetic. I have a feeling this show is going to be a bit of a character vs. society study so until we learn more about them and what they are about I can't really comment too much further.

They really only used 2 tracks from the released soundtrack.
