really that must be at same time the most "easy job for a voice actor but also one of the most "boring" and bad for peoples which are aiming to be "the top", if 'im not wroing we have another serie coming like that which is komori-san which the main girl almost don't speak because she is "too shy" to speak with others peoples face to face and the mc is a expert in understand her "face expression talk".

I also think her VA is doing a really good job at expressing her personality through actions rather than words.
I love how Street Fighter has been featured in this anime so far. Such a classic game.

That was a pretty sweet episode with Haruo abrasiveness lessening over the episode. Not really bothered by the animation quality although there were spots where the CG called attention to itself. Look forward to the next episode.

I always feel like there's this weird "clunkiness" and lack of flow to the narrative of this show and i definitely felt it this episode too. It's always there whenever the MC is giving out exposition on the subject gameplay mechanics but also in the flow of events. No sooner do we find out that Ono is leaving for LA, do we then find the MC saying his farewell at the airport. Also kinda weird how they pull this plot development this early on when you'd normally expect this kind of development to crop up closer towards the end of story. Isn't it a bit too early to go drama mode at this stage? At least give me more time to appreciate the chemistry they have together. I guess that also explains why I'm not particular engaged with this development. I've already seen it like a million times before and I know what it usually results in. But I guess it's also a nice surprise in the fact that this must mean there's much more to the story if it can confidently cover a stage like this so early on.

I would love to counterpoint that, but I've wracked my brain for a way to do so without it being a manga spoiler (at least indirectly) and can't find one. Suffice to say I disagree with that take on this development, and I think if you stick around you'll understand why soon enough.

I can't say I was expecting that. The first half of the episode was cute, and the second half was pretty emotional. I'm glad Haruo was able to give Ono a proper send-off. I guess we'll have one episode showing Haruo without Ono, then timeskip to middle school with her returning (already spoiled in the OP, not like it wasn't obvious she'd come back anyway). Unless this was basically the prologue and we'll timeskip right away next ep, with Ono appearing at the very end.

I did wonder why such a twist would come so early in the story.

Well, all I'm really saying is that Oshikiri has a reason for doing things the way he does them, and if one sticks around, they can decide for themselves if they think it's a good one. I've said all along - HSG is not a series that plays all its cards right out of the gate. It's not a modern LN adaptation with exposition by explanation and every character fully formed in the first episode. It's subtle, it's slow developing, and people change. That's one reason among many why it's probably going to tank as an anime.

Some nice colour and lighting effects (especially) this episode. I'm so glad this is finally being made. Now I only wish they'd realease it overseas, too. Even I know a few people who'd watch it, and I don't get around a lot. |

It seems like HSG has gotten screwed just about every way possible. Lawsuit scraps anime for years and halts manga publication, full CGI adaptation when it does come, no streaming in the West. I'm not surprised it's being ignored, but it does make me sad. Truthfully, as well as the manga is generally regarded I don't think even it gets the respect it deserves. It as, as you say, great - legitimately so. Profound and perceptive and funny and heartbreakingly authentic.
