I was already surprised enough to get an additional green box mostly thanks to this thread!

Rather, I was getting fairly frustrated that the available list of ratings was way too short every week. No more ratings for the late Thursday TBS shows, no more ratings for Nichigo (= Fullmetal Alchemist)... barely anything but the usual top10 and meaningless late-night shows. I considered posting the full seasons ratings if they became available with almost all of the shows we can get, but I don't know how soon such a list will become available.

Anyhow, there were two (imo) interesting trends in the past week's ratings:

- noitaminA completely bombing for the first time with Kuuchuu Buranko. The show's finale did decently (*3.9%) but it isn't enough to save the show from scoring the worst number since the timeslot's creation. At least the producers are not trying anything too dangerous with the Nodame sequel coming up this winter.

Yeah, I guess you're right. But it is surprisingly popular on 2channel, indicating it even has some cross-over appeal. It is quite a popular shoujo manga. I love the manga, myself; the anime, not so much. Maybe it's the same in Japan.

lol, seems the top 5 animes never change! i gotta question for all who choose to answer: which anime do yall favor between DB Kai, Naruto, and One Piece? I've seen all of Kai and most of Naruto but almost none of One Piece. i've been very skeptical to get into it for some reason and would appreciate a quick review for it.

haven't watched DB Kai. so I can't comment much.

why skeptical?
one piece is the most liked in the big 3 shounen (one piece, naruto, bleach) based from:
- online forums polls or surveys (onemanga, mangahelpers, mangafox + many others)
- Japanese tank sales - best selling manga of all time beating dragon ball. and it is still on going and widening the gap every day
- Japanese anime rankings

OP quick review (i'll try not to spoil anything):
over the top setting complete with world map, different cultures & technologies and has a diverse set of characters. has a great pace in advancing the story. has a good mix of humor, action and drama (not emo level). good story telling with lots of foreshadowing and symbolisms. the start of the manga is a little repetitive and has a below par art. but the author only gets better with time. best shounen i read so far.

Thread revival! Just because this is the first time in a while that the figures are available for about every anime series airing currently. Nothing terribly groundbreaking anyway, the Thursday TBS slots have been doing worse than ever (though Oofuri's going to change that next month, I bet), Nodame's helped noitaminA get back to decent ratings, and Heartcatch seems to get its chance to shine. If anything, I'm hoping this means we can start the spring season with full figures every week, but I seem to be saying this every season.

By the way, the Japanese website archiving all ratings since 2000 has updated with the past few weeks for about every show too. You should head there if you're curious to find out about all the weeks I haven't posted about.

I might've said it before about this timeslot: don't rely on the TV ratings for Durarara!! too much (even less than on your usual late-night ratings which are already bad indicators). Every new episode first airs on Thursday nights on MBS (this channel being specific to the Kansai region), then one day later on Friday nights on TBS (the Kantou equivalent of MBS), which we get the ratings for. Now the show obviously gets capped on MBS, then spreads on the internet, where people from Kantou can watch it one day earlier! I'm pretty sure a lot of viewers are lost due to this.

For the sake of comparison, the show did better on MBS in the week I've just posted about:

(On the other hand, the bad ratings for Cross Game have always been a huge shame. )

There were a few gaps here and there I was waiting to get filled, but I suppose the currently available list is just fine since it at least includes all new shows. And I'm posting the previous week at the same time, now that one's late... I'm getting rid of most pointless reruns by the way, I doubt anyone really cares to know how they do.
