Story premise, writing, character design, voice acting, background art, animation and music direction, these are all things that make up the production. You might like one aspect and dislike another, or perhaps even hate all the above, that's fine. My point is that basing the detriment to the enjoyment of a show entirely on whether the underwear is visible ALONE is a bit silly. Not the hairstyle, personality, voice, breast size, buttocks, legs, clothing, just underwear. Call me crazy, but I find that incredibly shallow and slightly creepy.

I'll tell you one line that really irritates me after so many years: "1 weak male character + 5 girls? Dropped." That is quite literally a direct shot at harem's, which leads me to wonder does one not look into information of what they're about to watch? And then posting something negative about it, feels like they are complaining about wasting time. Because I have seen many call it a waste of time.

Maken Ki may have that 1 guy 5 girls look to it, but there are other characters out there. I'm anticipating Aki-sensei, and even in Episode 01, I found Director Minori's mic test amusing.

I kinda agree with this, on the one hand I can understand some people jumping into a series with out any prior info to see what it's like and if it can entertain and surprise them(I've done that before) but there are certain shows where it seems all to obvious you should check out some info before hand and I do think Maken-ki applies there.
Even just reading the a simple summary of the premise I think would give away what this is but well it's never so simple in RL is it

Sad part is tho that for a majority of harem shows is that certain side characters that end up being of more interest than any of the main cast tend to stay side characters and if thats the case it then becomes difficult to stay with a show if your not getting any fun outta it.
Hoping and waiting for their ever so small moments really isn't a good idea to stay with a show in the long run, it does indeed become a waste of time.

And as I wrtie this post I just realized that quite alot of my favored characters tend to be side characters, I think that has come about cause of some talk in the Horizon LN thread.

Hm, a lot of girls in anime are athletic (Ben-to, Tenjou Tenge, Queen's Blade, etc.), yet retain their femininity, avoiding the body-builder look of Maken-ki

Censorship here is nowhere near that bad. You can still see a good deal of panties, it's only censored if it's a close-up shot.

But that's the joy of enjoying the series as a whole, whenever those small moments do pop up I find them satisfying in that at least I got served And,.... that's probably because of the fact that I've come across even main characters that end up on the wayside due to some unknown mystical phenomena

I may not get more Aki-sensei every ep, but at least I saw a preview that makes me want more

This show really has a small budget, and it's quite obvious they don't really want to animate anything really other than big floppy tits, which is a disppointment, then again this Maken Ki we are talking about, anyway I'm rather down on this, I might stay in tune but for the most part the breast design is throwing me off, I guess I'm too used to the manga, maybe the color makes them look bigger, anyway here's hoping for something better, but I doubt it due to the current animation quality, and the overuse of stills.

I would say its more of personal preference....Personally, I'm liking the artwork....bright and colorful, which works well with Harem comedy. And this is AIC, so it'll be VERY odd for them to have used a low budget. I heard this series really gets action packed later down the line, so maybe they saved the GOOD ARTIST for those scenes...

Agree entirely....It gets really annoying and old to see these Type A fans complain about the same thing, you would think they would know by now to just avoid the damn thing, but people love to complain, so what can you do. Its one thing having your opinion, and that's cool, but when these so called professional sites review shows this way *coughs*ANN*coughs*, it really makes you question why the hell did you even waste time writing a review for it.

Ok, I take back everything I said about the first episode, this pretty much what it is, a silly harem focusing on fanservice. The major thing is I just don't like the fanservice they do in this anime, especially when it comes to the cow tits, honestly the manga did it better, these just look like some doujin wish fufillment. Anyway I'll probably drop this, the manga is a standard harem/battle shounen so it's not like this to excell past that rather low bar. Anyway considering the length (1 cour) and the content, I doubt anything big will happen, and this will be mainly a full color spread of the manga, with maybe a little bit of filler. Hopefully some people like the service and enjoy it but I can make no qualms that this show won't do anything ground breaking, and probably won't be all that well animated.

Damn good episode....I can tell he will definitely be one of my favorite Harem male leads, he doesn't bitch up and loves the ecchi moments that hit him in the face....Not much action this episode, but the comedy was top notch.....

I liked how no one seemed to wear a bra at the start of the episode, then BAM, bras everywhere. The skirts are also insanely short. Not that I'm complaining. In comparison, the boys were all wearing the same white boxers. Also, how every boy managed to hold down their, err, bulges in the presence of Aki-sensei is a mystery.

It's obvious that AIC isn't giving this the highest priority. There were a lot of stills. Ah well. Guilty pleasure it is.
