Ilya doesn't use magic in a traditional sense in the first place in this series. All of it is done by her magic stick. Without it, she's literally screwed. For someone who's as old as he is to have to teach someone who doesn't even know the basics is not only a time-sink, it's very likely to rob her of her current skill with using her magic stick. Ilya wasn't raised as a magus, nor does she need to be one.
And now that I think about, what are your reference sources on Merlin's character and teaching methods mentioned last page? I don't think I've seen him being used in any manga or anime media unless I missed something.

Quote:
To me Julian's motivation boils to two things. Save the world, protect his little sister Erika which could be a grail of a sort. So he's mad that the guy keeping the only girl that could save the world was his best friend. My guess the shadow was the doing of the Ainsworth and it didn't pan out due to Miyu. This is why Gil can nothing but laugh at them that the Ainsworth actions are contradicting. To save humanity they tried to do something to destroy it. Erika said Pithos which clued in Gil. Pithos means a jar. In the original myth of Pandora it wasn't a box but a jar. |

Speculation:
In this universe, Sakura joined the Matous much like in the prime Fateverse, and was being turned into a partial lesser Grail (or whatever the equivalent here) by Zouken. The Ainsworths found out about her potential and killed off the Matous (save Sakura) and their further experimentations on her led to the Shadow that Miyu stopped. Thinking that she was a failure, the Ainsworths decided to try another tact (Erika) and wiped her memory of them (but left a failsafe "control" of sorts in case they needed her), then dumped her back in the now-empty Matou household (with maybe a "doll" or two to raise her).

Now the question is did a version of Rin exist in this universe? Is she even alive?
What would her reaction be for Illyaverse Rin? We are already getting hints Rin is Sakura's sister as well in Illyaverse given her reaction. If she learns this universe's Sakura's terrible fate with the Matous it'll motivate her to save Sakura in her own universe. |

Being Sakura is painful no matter what the dimension is it seems sadly. It's too bad her life seems to be nothing more than a perpetual ball of misery and suffering as I rather like her. As for the chapter Miyu was quite cute this time as well. Looks like we're almost done with the flashbacks.

It seems like we are approaching the end to the flashbacks. No matter where she is being Sakura is suffering. Miyu was extremely cute during this chapter. Also Shirou and Julian's interactions were fun to watch with the exception of that last scene.

I have a feeling that after Shirou's storytelling, Rin take some action. Her family residence should be in the same area in the other world.
I think Merlin has a way of "seeing" the outside within the tower. I wonder if he can ever breakout. He never tried dig underneath the tower. Last edited by tuckersister; 2015-10-14 at 21:35. |

I'd say that it's possible that Sakura's life in Illya's regular universe might be ok....but let's face it, we are talking about Sakura. Even without any bad sign her life probably still sucks under the surface. Maybe when they get back they can look into dealing with that.
But yeah....Miyu is adorable. That has been a consistent in this flashback, but it really took over here. Just the shame that Miyu's first trip outside turns into this disaster. Just so hyped about heading out there with her brother and then....it's all going to hell. No opportunity to just go and enjoy the moment. Next chapter should be crazy and exciting. Julian making his move, Shirou having to do everything in his power just to create a chance for Miyu to get out of there. Going to be nuts and force him to evolve pretty darn rapidly.
