Bioware buys out the rights to SWG from SOE???

Again..I saw...sorry for they're beinging another thred...I kinda felt this was off topic to what the other SWG threads where talking about....Soo again I'm am sorry if I broke a rule (That tends to happen with the threads I post xD)

But yea..I read that Bioware bought out the rights to SWG from SOE...I'm not sure how much information is out on it..but I haven't found much...does anyone know anything about this?? Or have any information on it?

What's a SWG, and what's a SOE?

Star Wars Galxies and Sony Online Entertainment. This is nothing more than a rumor at the moment. People want to believe BioWare is making a Star Wars MMORPG so bad they're deluding themselves. Why would Bioware buy a license to a failed franchise when they could get their own license and build a game from the ground up?

A source close to BioWare confirmed to us today that the studio’s upcoming untitled massively-multiplayer online RPG will be centered around the Star Wars universe, specifically that of Knights of the Old Republic, which the developer released in 2003. The game garnered critical acclaim and spawned a less-popular sequel, released by Obsidian two years later.
It's still just a rumor, but it seems to be a fairly compelling one.

Well, I was just aking...cause you know there was no info on it...But I guess they could buy it so they wouldnt have to start from scratch...But if they were to make it back to Pre CU cause everyone knows it's better....I'm not sure if it would be easier xD

SWG... Jesus christ, man.

I waited for that game since 2000. When it finally was released in the summer of 2003(june 26th) the game was amazing.
despite the broken combat, broken classes, unbalanced gameplay, lack of content and story, bugs, insane system requirements, lack of starwars music and millions of other complaints..) I swear to god, that the game had some amazing things about it.

I remember making an entire city on my server with my guild. it was unreal. we had political elections. voting for the mayor.
I remember setting up my own shop.

I rememeber the incredible community. there was no uber loot. so people where not greedy and got up in fights over loot. no ninja looters either. The social aspect was amazing. entire classes only devoted to being social. like the entertainers who spend all their time playing, just socialising.

it was fun having been out hunting, and then going into a cantina, to be greeted by 30 nice people, just dancing and playing music.

I loved how everything was player crafted and how the economy was player run. I meet the most known and loved weaponsmith on my server when he had just opened his little business with a vendor. Soon after, he managed to become the top weaponsmith on the server. it was amazing seeing his business grow.

and the worlds where beautiful. the races where interesting. the uniqe-play-how-you-want playstyle made it uniqe.

my character was a wookie, who had skills in cooking, and making droids and some in pistols!

great game. It took alot of stuff for does idiots to ruin it. jedis. holocrons. CU. NGE... NGE was the final kill. the Jump to lightspeed could not save it. dammit.

and after SWG everything else was just dumped down crap. everything from WoW, to CoH to LOTRO felt like single player games. annoying, and not mmo-like.

I feel like SWG found out what made MMO games special in the first place. what seperated them from normal games. many recent games have not been able to find it either, IMO. a shame.

EDIT:

People. Never forget. EVER: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3bf5f1FIA8

I completly agree...NGE killed the game..and some how they think it's better..and yet, they have alot less people..amazing isn't it? I was (and still am, I play from time to time) Ahzi server..I was in the guid called Nepal...Our city was on Lok....The city is now a mulit guild city called Forgotten Valley...it's very sadening...I was the son of the leader...then he gave up the leadership cause he thought she'd do better and completly screwd everything over...very sadening.....But yea..I was TKM and Master Doctor...Very sadening when I had to change...then the fact I was almost Jedi....then it updated...
