OMG, I can't believe how long this thread has gotten in less than a month 0_o;; I have to say though, that I find it extremely interesting how this entire situation has unfolded over the last month or so.

That is: How quickly a wide-spanning group of people consolidated on an "accepted" visual for most of the characters.

Kyonko especially I think they did a great job on keeping the essence of Kyon with it. Extrapolating the character uses in the show, Mikuru is a pretty good match as well, and Yuki too I suppose. Ironically enough Haruhi appears to be the one with the most variations -- I feel that the "yellow headphones" works best if the iconic yellow headband look must be retained.

Itsuki fits the least well IMHO -- even though the design looks nice, I don't really see any glimmer of resemblance to the original like the others, and of course they went with the lesbian personality for the lulz.

I just think that gender-swapping EVERY single character in the show ends up being a bit ridiculous and flies off the deep end

The base concept for at least the main characters and a couple of the support characters works surprisingly well though IMHO.

(I saw someone tried genderswapping the entire cast of CLANNAD ... *shudder* trainwreck...)

I dunno Rockman, I could see it working. Remember that the essence of Kyon is that he always seems to sigh and go along with whatever crazy scheme Haruhi has in mind at the time. So I could definitely see Kyonko wearing some fanservicey outfit while sighing and thinking to herself "Why am I even doing this again? ....."

Kyonko derived from the "Essence of Kyon"(TM) in my mind wouldn't be super overly sensitive about something like that.
