..I don't think they're actually getting 'serious' at all. In the first place, I don't even think that they understand such basic concept of emotion; they just learned much about human strategy because of Sumika and that's why they can use tactics to attack the humans.

Is not for infiltration...is for engaging and destroying and as seige weaponry to use against hives.

For starters the EML railgun mounted on a proper tank chassis will actually give the land forces a chance to meet the enemy on their own terms and win

The BETA was curious about Sumika who was the only one who could communicate with them. They never saw humanity as a threat and continued to research humans, until the day Takeru and the others finally destroyed the er, I don't actually remember the name but it's a huge hive anyway, and The Superior finally decided that they want to destroy humanity (and grab Sumika? It's been quite a long while since I've read MLA). And they did it with a single attack...

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the only sentient BETA is the Superior.

Sounds like my country is a good place to be.

the ASEAN nations are more or less BETA-free, and have formed a block called COSEAN (Consolidation of South East Asian Nations), which is apparently supported by Japan in a sort of Far East Alliance.

However, most of the ASEAN nations are overrun by BETA; currently COSEAN forces are holding the BETA in a bottleneck in south Thailand, where the remnants of Thai forces along with Malaysian and Indonesian Armies are fighting the BETA. I presume that Butterworth Airbase is a major staging point, and that the Australians are involved, what with the whole Five Powers Defense Agreement. The Philippines are also helping the RAN, USN and USMC in keeping the BETA from staging a breakout from Vietnam, and are so far successful.

An F-35 TSF design appeared once, but it was on an issue of a mag dated April 1st, so it's unknown whether Kouki was just trolling.

Still I'd put in for TSF Pilot Training. Is there a F111 TSF we know of? Otherwise soon we'd have F35 Lightning TSFs; the looks of a Raptor with the abilities of a Spitfire. Gawd.

No F-111 TSF that I know of. Assuming Australia has nukes, I've always felt that the ADF's plan would be to retreat in the opposite direction of the BETA, leading them across the desert, and fighting running battles punctuated by setting off nukes in the desert.

Then again, I figure at this point Australia's forces are primarily F-18s, with an occasional F-4 squadron tasked for the deep strike role the F-111 used to have, with F-5s as trainers. Also IIRC the Australians have a test flight up at Yukon, doing OPEVAL for the F-18E Super Hornet, as is COSEAN's Garuda Flight.

WildGoose, I'm a Malaysian and I can tell you that I don't think the MSians or Indonesians could ever hold themselves against any squadron of BETA that has Laser Class in it... ever. If anything, the BETA will overlook them simply because they're way too weak to be noticed...

About as good as the number of bullets you have in store, provided that you're facing against Soldier Classes, and the BETA always attack by the hundreds. if you're lucky. If there's one thing Muv Luv did right, it would be that the aliens are far, FAR better than zombies.

And well, officially the Malaysian Army is like 1 million strong or less (I actually think that I'm exaggerating the numbers by a lot), but the real army are... less than two hundred thousand. Not to mention that our nation is small, we have virtually no land machines, we rely on mainly Air Force which are so fucked by Laser Classes, Sabah and Sarawak are severely under-developed (as my Sarawakian roommate complains to me almost every day), Indonesia is a jungle... Well Thailand would put up a good fight, but seriously, Malaysia and Indonesia are just out of the league against BETA.
