Ive watched this episode 3 times and each time I find myself holding my breath during the free skate. That entire skate was amazing even with the flaws and how Yuuri changed it and Viktor realizing Yuuri is taking after him.
BACK HUG TOO OMG

Episode 6:
Interesting performance by Phichit. I love how this series showcases the best of the best in this competition with its diverse cultural style and talent. Of course there's also Yuri and his performance. I think he went with a slightly more aggressive style but still is able to impress the audience. I like how Yurio made that little grin at the end where it's like he expected it from his rival. So yeah, I feel like the episode was an apex of the show so far where it presents what competition really is like when it comes to ice skating. Others to keep an eye on are Georgi, Leo, Christopher. Every skater has their own unique personality, talent, and way to convey their message to the audience.

Holy shit, this episode was, like, 50% of the runtime skating scenes . I'm amazed that Mappa can keep this up. Really good episode. I have to say I liked most the American guy's hip-hop like performance, but Yuri's was also godly.

That was absolutely marvellous, not just Yuri's performance (moved on from katsudon) but the performances of the other skaters were also good to watch and displayed their personalities - though Georgi had the most ridiculous getup like someone from a 80s New Romantic band.
Spectacular. |

Not sure if it's just me but doesn't it seem like Phichit's jumps look a little too light and does not carry much weight? Either the animation quality dropped or he really pulled those jumps with such ease.
Leo's program was really refreshing and cool. He must have enjoyed it very much. That heartbreak guy....poor guy. and Chris. Woah, Chris. He's packing lots of punch. Hope Yuuri learns a thing or two from their further interactions. It'll probably help him grow further. Finally, Yuuri. He's got that nice lip licking added in at the start. He's turning into a predator soon enough. Like a young cub that learns how to hunt, trying out different ways, learning from his surroundings. I'm looking forward to see his growth. |

On the other hand, there is a clear improvement in the fluidity of the animation during Yuri's program. I guess they have their priorities when they have so much to animate. |

I just found all the musical numbers so far are on iTunes - a bit of a pain to find as they're separate 'singles' so unless you look for the song title or the artist (in Japanese) they're not grouped as such.
But I'm so glad this stuff is available for 99p per track. I'll buy those for a kibblesworth short of a quid! |

When Yuri chose his "Yuri on Ice" track, I first thought it was the OP song.
And when he went to bump foreheads with Viktor, I immediately thought he was going to kiss the guy. Geez, this series is corrupting my mind. Personally, I find Yurio's Eos choreography to be prettier than Yuri's, but maybe it's because the song is more enchanting.

I can barely hear what with the wall of screaming that the fangirls and fujoshis (and probably fudanshis) are letting out. It is deafening. This must be what a Beatles concert in the US was like in the 60s when they went over for their tour.
Seriously though, well played, well played. Despite all the nerves and pressure, after he let out his tears, Yuri found peace while skating his free skate programme. The artistic presentation sections of his free skate felt like an open declaration of love directed at Viktor. That final jump was aimed squarely at Viktor. And boy, did it hit the bullseye. Bravo, Yamamoto-san. Bravo, Suwabe-san and Toyonaga-san, for pulling it off. |

I cannot even handle this. Canon shipping aside this episode was outstanding. Yuuri all nervous, Viktor admitting he kinda doesn't know what he's doing, Yuuri crying, the other skaters, PHICHIT, everything was just amazingly done.
God I cant wait for Yuuri vs Yuri. Let's go to Russia!!

OK, upon reading there was the implied kiss, I am dropping this series. I am on the fence with "Izetta". For those watching "Yuri" and "Izetta", isn't Izetta less of a GL/yuri-tease than this series does with BL/yaoi-teasing?
