how to get write access on 2nd HDD on linux help

I have a 2nd HDD that only has read access after i mount it in solus budgie. How do i format.mount the drive so i have read and write access? Thanks

Linux will mount devices read-only if they have file system discrepancies. Did you run fsck against the filesystem? Assuming the file system resides in /dev/sdb1, the first partition on the second hard drive ("b"), you should run
Code:
sudo fsck /dev/sdb1
and see what it finds. If it reports having fixed problems, try rebooting and see if you can write to the drive.

If that doesn't help, we'll need to get into details about the file system's entry in /etc/fstab and how you are mounting drives.

thanks, so i just moved my files to another drive then format as ext4 and i get read write access
