Hugtto! Precure

A little bit startled that nobody before chose to open a thread for the next Precure series in the meta franchise.

Although the news in the link below is over a month old, still I'm opening this thread for all Precure fans that may want to begin speculating on the future show due to start on February 2018.

Also, there's a particular leak/rumor where supposedly this series will feature cameos by Nagisa and Honoka (i.e. Cure Black and Cure White), though as of now nothing's really confirmed.

I was waiting for some confirmation, but yes, Junichi Sato is directing the next Precure series!

The only real downside for me with this episode.....is that Japan can't pronounce Yell properly. The Y isn't silent! I'm going to just call her Cure L since that's the only way they are pronouncing it.

Still maybe it's because KiraKira was so underwhelming, but this felt ok. It was solid, the MC is nice enough and they did get some physical combat back in.

Hard to compare, but I'd rate the first episode here above KiraKira, but still beneath the previous two premiers. Not quite grabbing me like the Princess or Maho series did. But it has potential.

This felt more engaging to me than the first episode of KiraKira, anyway. I was never able to get into that series. Someday I should go back and watch through it just for the sake of completeness, but... eh.

A decent first episode. So they're going back to having a "baby" in the show. They put a baby in because Japan is suffering from declining birth rates? xD
Well, I lived through Fresh precure, and even enjoyed it at times. So will stick to this for now.

Cure Yell character design somehow reminds me of the pink cheerleader design of Amu Hinamori from Shugo Chara. And thank goodness some real action is back, oh thank goodness. I can have a year of decent precure again.

The way she pronounce yell is acceptable enough for me.. the va is not native english speakers after all.

To be fair to KiraKira, even after all it's shortcomings I still rate it a strong 6/10. Just a personal opinion of course.. Cure Whip is among the cutest precures I've ever seen, and the transformation theme of Kira is one of my favorites ^^ - short clip of of the theme. still listen to it during break time at work. However, the downfall of Kira is their attempt to remove all hand-to-hand combat.. to the point that Kira became a "let's always spam our special skills" type of show, things got boring fast. Not even Rem voice actress (Cure Parfait) and Doremi voice actress (Biburi) could get my interest back into it.

Anyway, time to look forward to this new season of precure. ^_^

So... that dream seems important. It makes me wonder if Hugtan was a precure in a bad future, who got sent back in time to try to fix things.

Watched episode 2:

Hana wants to be the solo precure so she get's all the attention? First time I heard a cure say that. Well, she changed her mind after spending time with Saaya.

Satisfied with the action. Oshimaeda!

A bit late in watching this, because other girl's shows occupy my attention.. but enjoyed precure when I watched it.

Another solid adventure for Cure L (yes I'm not letting that go). I will say she is an entertaining individual if not a bit reckless. Her first instinct being to reveal her secret identity and then to do all the fighting alone since it will be cooler that way . Sure that's a bit reckless and selfish....but it does give her a bit of personality. And it isn't as if she stays stuck to that idea for very long.

Seems like the strengths of the two so far are pretty set up. Ange brings the brains and L the brawn. I fully support the tactic of chucking a steel beam at the enemy to knock it over. Keep up with the physical combat! Plus solid defensive tactics from Ange when appropriate.

Hmm, if Hana does decide to become stubborn and go solo... that would be a first time in precure history.. although would probably work only for a short time. She'll get beat up bad when the enemies become serious, or send more than one person. And well... if she's solo, TOEI would have less precure toys to sell.

Well, that's a good combination tactic they did there. And thank goodness, physical fights are here to stay. For those who watched the original precure... I noticed that the Oshimaeda monsters sound a bit like the Zakenna monsters from the original show.. same voice actor?

Dang, both the story and the animation quality was over the top for episode 4.
Even when you make animation "amazing", an important part that needs to be kept in mind is that the audience still needs to be able to easily recognize what is going on and it feels natural.
You know, you sometimes see such a scene where a person moves way too much or there is too much effect on the screen. This type of high-level animation avoids that, and it really is powerful.

Yeah, the preview kinda.. well, spoils it, but the surprise in the episode was pretty good too.

Surprisingly good episode. Hmm, so that's why Homare looks depressed.. that fall in the competition must have traumatized her a bit.

Looks like the episode director is Yuta Tanaka.. the director of Go Princess.

That was pretty good. I like the time they are taking with Homare. Having her immediately overcome her trauma might be a bit much. But letting her fail a bit before starting to rise again seems appropriate.

The action was pretty nice as well which just added to the enjoyment.

Hmm, now since Homare is obvious going to be the third cure. I'm already curious who will be the 4th. Hugtan will grow up? or someone else??

Watched episode 5:

Good episode introduction for Cure Etoile. Scary looking Oshimaeda this time, big and black.. it looks like a demon... I guess it symbolize the trauma that Homare experienced during her accident. Friends help her overcome the trauma of course... and she's a part of the team now. Homare precure form is so tall.. she looks like a model.

Would this precure series follow the old formula where villains that get defeated too many times are disposed of? Hmm..
