I need someone to confirm, but this appear to say that the ship is faster than other ships of the same class but has unreliability issues.
I took your comment as if you assumed that Harekaze was a Fubuki Special class, a class that had very severe structural weaknesses from being overloaded and the aluminium superstructure corroding away along with hull fragility from the lack of maturity in arc welding practices.

Kagerous were designed to do 35.5 knots, but they normally failed to reach this speed due to stern design issues. Amatsukaze who became the test platform for Shimakaze's 570psi boilers could only manage 34.5 knots for one.

High CG issue meant poor roll recovery in storm. 高速だが不安定 as mentioned on the official site about the Harekaze may mean roll recovery or even with turbine output itself being erratic. Given how advanced this world is, I don't think it's in the propulsion or the physical hull construction.

EDIT: lyrics for the Mike and Moka's duet from the image song single:

Spoiler:
I don't have a translation but someone made a summary of the song

Quote:
Basically, they sings about how even if they're apart they're still on the same planet and breath in sync with each other, and that have decided to chase after their dream together on their own pace, that they will meet and laugh together again, that they will share all the wonderful things with each other, that they will get lost, fall and get hurt together, that things have always felt nice between them ever since the day they first met and will stay that way even 10 years after.
Btw, according to their profiles, Moka and Mike both like canoeing. Moka is said to have an excellent leadership and is always the one who inspires and encourage Mike. Her favorite saying is "Talent can't win against effort". Mike is said to be broad minded, dynamic, and have good luck. Her favorite saying is "It will all work out somehow".

OP's lyrics. It's sung by Mike and Moka's VAs
More correctly it's sung by TrySail unit. Third girl voices one of the secondary characters (Mike's ship chief cook).

10 Kagerou-class ships had -kaze in their names. They just added the new one for the story.

Because I wasn't actively looking for that information on the website. I was checking the goods section and I saw that shirt, and I thought it could be relevant to Vallen Chaos Valiant and panzerfan's discussion.

Kagerou wasn't the only class with ships that bear the 'kaze' suffix of course, but they are the most well known. We can imagine the Harekaze as being one of the three paper Kagerous that were never made because they were there only to hide Yamato's construction costs by the way.

Spoiler for for how I feel right now about this anime:

Moka sounds like an MC, but Mike's qualities are definetly the best for her current situation,

We only have a name. Wilhelmina. The name is a hint of her nation of origin, and even her government.

I was thinking she could've been one of the cancelled Yuugumo-class destroyer names, or either one of 3rd-batch of the Akizuki-class or one of the Super-Akizuki class names, but no deal, it's an original name AFAIK(although one that could have been used). Since she's listed in the anime site as a Kagerou-class, she would have been one of the three dummy destroyers listed to hide Yamato alright.

Shows like this really make me wish that I had more specialized subculture information apart from general anime. There's a whole lot of niggling details here that would probably make warship enthusiasts giggle, for example...

Speaking of which, I was told that the 57mm that the Sarushima was shown to be equipped WASN'T the standard weaponry of the Independence-class LSCs. Can someone confirm that for me?

It is the main armament for the ship according to wikipedia.

Watched the first episode of this series! Damn, Hai-Furi turned from a cutesy anime into a serious drama in a single episode!
