Sakura "used" to like Sasuke? I am pretty sure it is established in canon during the war that stupid Sakura is still in love with Sasuke. Oh filler.

Talk about stretching for filler with obscure characters. But I hear Hayate is still popular in Japan despite being a very minor character that hasn't appeared in the manga in nearly 10 years. |

Sad episode.
Though his death didn't make that much sense. As soon as he was discovered he should have shot up a flare or something to get help. Of course that would have changed everything about the original destruction of Konoha. |

Next week looks terrible
I don't understand why these fillers are still going on? there's 70 chapters of manga to animate which at the average of 2 chapters an episode means the anime could stick to canon till the 12th of December this year without all the additional manga that will be released in the meantime! |

May isn't far off, but I think the padding is to do with the lack of breaks in action going forward. We're about to be hit with some long continuous fights as we approach the climax of this arc and arguably the series. Who knows, if the series ends after this arc we might be treated to a super long stretch of canon. Wouldn't that be awesome
By the way, maybe it's just me but Hayate's character design is a little weird, especially when his pupils go towards the top like that. Made him look like a zombie even when he was alive. Or just really really tired, lol. Last edited by Excelion; 2013-04-12 at 02:14. |

Naruto is an anime that ranks from great to horrible. I would absolutely not recommend it to a new viewer because at least half the episodes are filler trash. |

That's what certain people like to think. TV ratings tell a different story.
When it comes to new viewers, I think intelligent people aren't gonna judge the series based on the filler parts. If fillers bore them, they are just gonna skip ahead to the next canon arc. When you start a long-running series, you know what you're getting yourself into. You know there's gonna be plenty of fillers. You don't ignore the series because of it. I can't say I have a problem with it, to be honest. As powerful as Sasori was, conquering an entire country with only 100 puppets sounded a bit ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous if you consider that the mighty army of puppets that conquered a country got beaten by freaking Sakura. I think the filler spin is acceptable, for once. Yet Chiyo (was that her name?) still beat Sasori's 100 puppets with her meager 10 puppets. Which sure, could still happen for one reason or another, but it makes Sasori's claim that he used those 100 puppets to conquer an entire nation really hard to believe. Unless that nation was really small.

^it obviously was a small nation. i dont find it hard to believe. kages are very powerful and most could conquer a small nation with their own strength. sasori defeated the best kage the sand has ever had. he actually was very powerful, but so was the combo of chiyo and sakura. if he faced either one on their own, they would have been killed handily, but he faced another puppet master (his mentor) and a poison specialist who could counter one of his trump cards. he couldn't have had worse opponents in terms of unique skill sets

I'm surprised anime don't just use a season type approach like major tv shows in the US do.
Have 5 months of straight anime, and then show nothing for the next 7 months. Does anyone actually watch filler material? Maybe very young kids, but Id be interested in knowing what % of their total viewership actually watch fillers. I read somewhere that it costs about $180,000 to produce a single high quality anime episode. How much does a filler episode cost to produce? |

I can't stand filler, but apparently most people dont mind. from what i hear is that it doesnt hurt the ratings at all. my idea for no filler would be to have a show/time slot be 2 animes. i.e. naruto/bleach and each one runs for 6 months straight and then the other so neither catches up with the manga, but of course, it would mean less money for the studio since it's essentially 1 show instead of 2 for ads and stuff
