Update: This guide now covers the Full Version of the game. Sections that have been modified include Controls (element attacks, specifically), Characters (Missing hidden char for now), Items, and Menu.




This information covers the new game released by Fly-System called Elemental Battle Academy. You can download the demo directly from their site if you wanna try it out. I have no Japanese skills, so some stuff may not translate into exactly what I say it is, but some of it should be fairly accurate (except for the element attack names. I made most of those up, and only four or five are accurate). I created this guide as a reference to help new players learn the controls of the game and understand as many of the menus as I could figure out. So without further ado.. the playable characters!

Spoiler for Plum Scarlet:

Plum is the short range melee character. Her main weapons are Great Swords, though she's capable of using every Melee weapon in the game, and her melee weapons are generally longer than everyone elses. Her gun use is limited to pistols and Machine guns. Plum's Element is Fire.

Elemental Attacks
Longsword: Rolling Fire
Greatsword: Blazing Cyclone
Spear: Burning Crash
Double Saber: Spiral Explosion

Lierre is the other Melee character of the game, her main weapons are longswords. Like Plum, she's capable of using every Melee weapon in the game, and like plum, is also limited to Pistols and machine guns. Her element is Wind.

Elemental Attacks
Longsword: Air Slash
Greatsword: Tornado Break
Double Saber: Razor Hurricane
Spear: Sonic Blow

Noce is the ranged attacker of this game. Her melee skills are limited to two weapon types, but she can use any type of projectile weapon available to her. Bows, Snipers, Grenade Launchers, the works. Being a long range attacker, she has the specialty of using weapons that have scopes. Her element is Nature.

Elemental Attacks
Rifle: Burst Sniper
Shotgun: Nature's Railgun
Bow: Triple Volley
Grenade Launcher: Bombing Zone

Limone is the other Ranged character of the game. Like Noce, she is limited to knives and shortswords for her melee weapons, but is capable of using all ranged weaponry as well as scope weapons. Limone uses the earth element.

Bow: Cross Fire
Grenade Launcher: Avalanche

Cyneria Kyanos is one of the two mage characters in the game. She is able to use all of the extra weapons in the game, as well as any weapons that lack an element attack. Capable of using devastating Magic, she commands the element of water.

Book: Splash Wave
Boomerang: Aqua Split

Aprico Creer is the other mage character of the game. Like Cyneria, she is capable of using any extra weapon at her disposal to defeat her enemies, as well as weapons without an element attack. She is the user of the Light Element.

Staff: Starlight Beam (I was so tempted to say Starlight Breaker, but she clearly says beam.)
Book: Light Fall
Boomerang: Floral Prism

Before going any farther, it might be important to understand the interface of the game, so here it is.

7. Points gauge per team. This does not appear in single battle, instead the kills are shown in the form of medals on the left hand side of the screen like in the previous images.

Moving right along, this is the Main menu screen. There are 10 options starting from the first option down.

h. Story mode difficulty I think. If not, it's computer difficulty, though that's kind of strange when you can set the computer levels in arcade mode already.

For those of you who wanted to go through the training mode to get the hang of it, I've created a list of the steps to take to pass training mode. Please note that I may have changed my keyboard configuration a little, so some keys won't be the same, however, it will tell you what keys are needed for what step in the text box during training.

Spoiler for Training Mode:

1. Move around with WASD
2. Hold WASD to run. Then move in all 4 directions.
3. Space bar is Jump.
4. Press jump in midair to air dash. You can only air dash once.
5. Press Lcontrol or left click to melee attack. Complete a combo.
6. Complete a melee combo in midair.
7. Hold right click to aim gun.
8. Use left click to fire the gun.
9. Use numberpad or the mouse to move the camera in all 4 directions.
10. Use Left shift plus any direction to roll. Use V to center the camera to where your character is facing.
11. Use X to lock onto your target.
12. Use C to zoom in/use scope with your gun.
13. Use Up key/Down key on keyboard or spin the mouse wheel to access weapon switch ( used to switch melee or projectile weapons )
14. Use Left/Right key or use right click while in weapon switch to switch between melee weapon and projectile weapon slots.
15. Break open one of the aqua colored boxes will one drops a gun.
16. Press B to pick up the gun.
17. While in the weapon menu with the gun highlighted, press B again to discard it. You may have to be looking at the ground. It's been my experience the weapon won't drop sometimes unless the character is looking directly down.
( Note: you must always have one melee and one sub weapon. You cannot discard either without having extras. )
18. Break open one of the purple item boxes and collect the item inside. These boxes contain stat ups or Restoration items for HP, EP, and EB.
19. Walk up to a wall and press Z to stick to it. This is useful for looking around corners or taking cover. You can shoot from this position by pressing Lcontrol or Left click when near the edge of the wall.
20. Air dash. The text tells you that air dashing consumes 2 bars from the EP gauge
( gauge at the very bottom, underneath your lifebar and EB Gauge )
21. Dodge Roll. Tells you that Dodge rolling takes one bar from the EP gauge.
22. Press E. Activates your Element Attack. Takes 7 bars from your EP gauge. Attack used is determined by weapon equipped.
23. Hold Left shift and press E. Activates your Elemental Burst Mode. Requires a full Elemental Burst Gauge.
24. While in Elemental Burst mode, press Left shift and the E Key. Activates Element Attack: 2nd Stage. Super powered version of Element Attack. Weapon dependent, just like the 1st stage.
25. The text box says to collect your protective Spirit. You can find it by opening your Long Range Radar. ( Q key, radar leaves after a few seconds. ) More explained below.
26. Press Leftshift and spacebar to use Elemental Jump.
27. Lock onto your enemy while you are in Spirit Protection Mode and press Left Shift and Spacebar to fly towards your enemy. You have to be a bit away from them. More details below.
28. Lock onto your enemy while standing next to them in Spirit Protection Mode. While locked on, press Left Shift and spacebar to instantly jump behind them. useful for long, drawn out combos so long as your opponent doesn't know how to counter.
29. Activate Elemental Burst mode while in Protective Spirit Mode. Press Left Shift and the E key to unleash the super final ultimate attack, Element Maximum. This skill is unique to the character you play, and doesn't have anything to do with the weapon equipped.
30. Press Q to open the map.
31. Final training mission. Fight a low level computer opponent using your newfound battle knowledge. Probably won't be too hard, though its difficult to get used to keyboard in my opinion.

This is the Battle Options Screen, the screen you see after you choose your characters and the opponent's characters. This is a heck of a lot of options, but I spent all night last night figuring out what all of them were. For the most part. One of them I was unsure of.

Spoiler for Battle Option Screen:

1. Stage Select
2. BGM ( You can add custom BGM to the game by saving files as WAV type files in the BGM folder of this game. If you want a good program to convert, go with Audacity. Drag MP3 in, export as WAV, done. )
3. Play mode. There are two options. The first option of play is, the first person to reach a set amount of kills wins. Pretty self explanatory. Second mode is coin mode. Beating your opponents causes them to drop a coin for each kill, and the first one to reach that set number of coins wins. If you get defeated when you have more than one coin, you drop extra coins. I think the max you can lose is like two or three.
4. Number of kills to win/number of coins to win.
5. Time limit.
6. Computer Level.
7. Allows you to choose the items that drop from purple item boxes.

Purple Item Box items ( From left to Right )
HP up
Instant reload
EB restore ( About 3/8ths of the gauge )
EP restore ( 2 bars or so )
Power UP
I think this is SP up, which I am not sure of the purpose. Special damage up maybe.


8. Allows you to choose the weapons that drop from the aqua colored boxes.

9. This option puts moving targets other than ordinary enemies on the stage. Not sure what the purpose of it is. Possibly target practice? First option is no targets, second is about four or five targets. Third option, more targets, higher difficulty, more damage. Forth option: Hell mode. These things hit hard and fast, and are really evasive. You'll be on your toes the whole time.
10. This is the option on the lower left corner. It starts the match when you're fine with the settings you have.
11. This is the option on the lower right. It restores all the options to default. In case you forget what's what.

Now for the moment people have probably been waiting for: Controls and Mechanics. This explains just about everything to the game's controls.

Move - WASD keys
Aim/camera operation - Mouse
Jump/confirm choice ( Menu ) - Space bar
Air dash - Space bar while in the air. Can only air dash once.
Aim projectile weapon - hold C or hold right click on mouse
Fire projectile weapon/attack with melee weapon - Left CTRL or Left click on mouse. Melee attacks have a short multihit combo.
Weapon Switch - Press up or down on the keyboard OR scroll the mouse wheel to activate the weapon switch menu. You can switch weapons with the scroll wheel or use up and down on the keyboard when the menu is open to shift between weapons in that category. You can use left and right on the keyboard, OR press right click to shift categories between melee and projectile.
Direct weapon switching - keys 1-10 on the keyboard. You can set weapons as hotkeys. Don't know how to do this yet.
Pick up discarded weapons/Use Mounted Stage Weaponry/Cancel ( Menu ) - B.
Discard Weapons - Press B while highlighting the weapon you wish to discard in the weapon switch menu. If you are looking at another weapon and the pick-up symbol is there, you will trade the weapon you drop for the one you are looking at. Keep in mind that there is a limit to the weapons you can carry. It is measured in the stars on the weapons. Each character has a total of ten stars alotted to them. The stronger a weapon is, the more stars it has.
Take cover ( Walls/pillars ) - Stand near the wall and press Z. You can attack from cover by pressing the melee/projectile firing key, this will cause your character to look around the corner and shoot once. You can fire in succession, however you cannot fire again without detaching yourself from the wall, or so my experience has been.
Dodge/Avoid - Left Shift + WASD keys
Center camera - V
Lock on - X
Strafe - While locked on ( X ) WASD
Large radar Display - Q, displays large area radar for a few seconds. Use it to determine enemy positions.

Element Attack - E ( Consumes Elemental Power Gauge, 7 Bars ) A finishing move that consumes the EB gauge. Launches an elemental attack that changes, depending on which melee weapon you have equipped and the element of the character. There are five weapons which do not have Elemental Attacks. Those are Knives, Shortswords, Pistols, Machine Guns, and Landmines.

Elemental Burst - Shift + E ( Consumes Elemental Burst Gauge while active ) Releases the full capacity of elemental power and activates Elemental Burst mode.

Elemental Attack: Second Stage ( Elemental Burst Mode Only ) - Uses your elemental attack while in element burst mode, releasing the weapon system's maximum power output, allowing the use of a devastating super finisher move. This move is still based on the weapon equipped and Element of the character, so likewise, weapons that do not have elemental attacks do not have Second Stage attacks.

Spirit Protection - On each stage, a spirit animal appears at random inside a circular field of glowing energy. Stepping into this circle will bless your character with advanced abilities for a period of time, activating Spirit Protection Mode. The spirit for each character is different, so Plum can only pick up Haati, the fox spirit. You can see what spirit is on the map and where by opening the map with Q.

Elemental Jump ( Spirit Protection Mode ) - Shift + Space. Allows for an incredibly high jump, making places that were unreachable before accessible. Also makes for an awesome escape. Using this near a wall allows you to jump up the wall, then kick off of it. In order to kick off the wall, you have to face the camera away from the wall after you perform the first jump, and then press Shift + Space again. Holding Space will allow you to stick to the wall for a few moments.

Elemental Charge ( Spirit Protection Mode ) - Shift + Space when locked onto enemy
( Holding X ). Causes your character to fly towards and through the locked on enemy, knocking them into the air and damaging them.

Elemental Reverse ( Spirit Protection Mode ) - Shift + Space when locked onto an enemy at close range. Causes your character to jump behind your enemy at high speed.

Maximum Burst Mode ( Spirit Protection Mode ) - Shift + E. Activating Elemental Burst Mode while in Spirit Protection Mode will activate Maximum Burst mode. In this mode, attack power is greatly enhanced, and using Melee attacks on the enemy will release Element Crystals of the character's element that will float about the area they are released in. These will be explained in the next description.

Elemental Maximum ( Maximum Burst Mode ) - In order to activate Elemental Maximum, you must activate your element attack with Shift+E While in Maximum Burst Mode. This is the super final ultimate map attack, usable only once. Releases element power in a violent explosion of magic. This special is character based, and has nothing to do with the weapon equipped. This will also cause any nearby floating Element Crystals to Explode when the special finishes, making the attack even more devastating to the opponent. The Element Crystals are character specific.


Switch camera type - NUM5. Don't know what this does yet, I don't have a numberpad on my laptop, sorry. Description says it switches between objective and subjective view.

Display Scope - To use scopes with the keyboard, press C twice. I noticed that this is one of the controls I modified. This is originally NUM5 I believe. If it is, then Switch Camera type refers to switching between first person and scope.
