Bit of both. He got a sword stuck in his chest at the end...but fighting Godou wasn't really his objective, and the whole time, he just wanted to get away with him because fighting Godou would waste his time and allow both Guinevere and Lancelot time to escape from his trap.

They are not immortal, but they have ability that gain from authorities. For example, one of Godou Verethragna 10 incarnation have ability to resurrect him from dead if use before he died. If you want to know Alec ability you can find it in early post at start.

I just re-read the sequence, and there's an error with what I said earlier.

Alec got a sword stuck in his body,yes, but it was actually his afterimage that got impaled. The bastard was just too fast.

By the way, now that I have re-read parts of volume ten, I would like to clarify certain ways of removing restrictions on Godou's authority.
