Can't stop listening to this song, because it's meaning is not only depth but the real deal.
Basically, as I interpret it, the song conveys Mikasas' feelings for Eren, as she despairs everyday at the thought of losing him to the cruel world that both struggle and strive to live in it. Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai, "The Beautiful Cruel World". For real the world is cruel, yet if anyone pays attention and goes in a search, then he or she will discover that there are beautiful things to hold onto. Or maybe the song is intended for both Mikasa and Eren, the latter conveying his firm will to show her the beauty of the outside world, in spite of the chaos that both are living through. |

Currently finding the soundtrack to be pretty cinematic. I mean, that's generally been the way that Hiroyuki Sawano (composer of anime like Guilty Crown and Gundam Unicorn) has rolled, but here, he seems to be totally embracing the Hollywood type of sound you hear from guys like Hans Zimmer. Definitely fitting given how epic the anime seems to be shooting for at the moment and the bombast doesn't bother me like it normally does in his other works.

I really love the musical work that person does. Guilty Crown, Zombie Loan, and among others. I do agree the music for Shingeki no Kyojin is fitting. The score revolves around the idea of a world where humanity is reminded about survival of the fittest at every corner of their minds. Yet, the protagonist fights off that crapsack mentality with the hope of all of them surviving to the end to see the beauty of the outside world. I see it much like Hope vs Fatalism. |
