Princess? She's a bit above that. She was the queen at some point, remember? Hero King? Couvert's ancestor? That kind of thing demands a lot of respect, even if she no longer is the rightful ruler.

I see it as two possibilities:

1) During whatever Demon Conquest they were up to, the Princess (specifically Hime-sama by title) died and Adele became King as a result of the Will. This also changed Pastillage from a Kingdom to a Principality.

2) The King (Princess & Valerio's father) was still alive and he died in the conquest, making Adele King as a result. Couverte is Valerio's great-x-grand niece, being a descendant of the Princess. Her death would then have, likely, caused Adele & Valerio to go into the Pillar to wait for when their power was needed.

Things to be mindful of: I believe Couverte's parents are still alive. Millhi is a "princess" of a Republic (no clue how that works). And they're all under a much larger Kingdom, of which Leo is a Knight. So terms have to be taken with a grain of salt.

All information presented is that Leo, Milhi, and Couverte are leaders of their own independent countries. Their countries vary in size, but no one is a part of anyone else's domain. No parents of any of the princesses have been shown.

They're having a tea party, and start talking about how the Heroes are doing in their respective countries. Milhi talks about her walks and the other two talk about the Heroes basically grooming them. It's really kind of adorable.

It was said before that she died in a fight against demons after summoning Adel iirc. Then she made Adel Queen in her place. Considering there is already a natural heir in Valerie, this likely means she had Adel marry him to do this (and to keep him in line lol). That's where I really want a lot more information on lol

Well that's the thing with a lot of anime. Parents are just... nowhere to be seen. Ok Milhi is not guilty since it's explained but seriously for everyone else, they don't have ANY other relatives besides themselves or a sibling (Gaul)? But eventually you kind of just don't care anymore especially in series like this where it's just all fun and games, and ears.

If a country is ruled by princes/princesses then it is a principality.

Out of the 3 one is certainly principality. I don't know about the other.

but they shown Cinque & Nanami's parents, not sure on how to make of that, unless the staff are trolling with us that underneath all of this sugar coated filled world that there is something dark & sinister happened before the show started, & each of our respective Flonyard bishoujo rulers hide it within themselves, cue Ghaul suddenly becoming the most scariest character ever in this show
