Well, I attempted to answer my own challenge for Fatenum, but ultimately I just couldn't seem to get them together: Fate was too pre-occupied with Nanoha and Signum is.. well, Signum. I just couldn't see her hitting on the young Fate.
Spoiler for Signum to Fate:
Once again, their swords clash with a resounding twang, both women being forced back from one another with the force. Signum feints, twirling to catch Fate off guard before sidestepping her sweeping return, putting out a hand to push the smaller girl to the ground, the sound of Bardiche hitting the ground echoing throughout the workout room. The woman watches with scorn as the blonde breathes heavy, eyes clenched as she stays on the ground, seemingly finished with the round.
"This is absurd, Testarossa," Signum says quietly, "No wonder you've failed both of your exams, you're a pathetic excuse for an officer right now."
Red eyes snap open, glaring balefully up at Signum at the insult, but the fire of defiance and competition that usually burns deep in those eyes, especially as they sparred, is absent; they are glassy and dull, full of pain. When Signum had called her out earlier in the day to spar with her, the girl had refused without so much as a look in her direction, sitting as she had sat for days: rigidly in a chair at Nanoha's side, waiting for the girl to wake up. Annoyance had flashed in those eyes when Signum had forcibly grabbed the girl by the collar and hauled her towards the gym, but she had given in with little real argument, half heartedly attempting to parry and return the advances the other woman had thrown at her, but it had ended up like this each time; with Bardiche knocked out of the girl's hands and Signum towering over her.
"You'll never be able to catch the people who hurt her, never be able to protect her in this state," Signum turns away as she says this, disgust apparent on her face.
Fate sits on the floor, sweat running in rivulets down the side of her face and along her back as she huffs, catching her breath. Loosely, she picks up Bardiche but she is weary of fighting, feeling a bone deep tiredness that aches to be through with the device in her hand, yearns to throw it aside. She grasps it tightly, the metal warm to the touch, the power coursing throughout it steady and familiar; more familiar than Nanoha, Arf... It had been the first thing her mother ever gave her, the first voice that had ever answered her call, but here and now she felt like snapping him in two, for he is silent, incapable of helping her like he always had in the past, as if he refused to talk to her while she was misusing him. Signum was right; there was no way she could protect Nanoha like this. Sighing, she lets her device clatter back to the floor, drawing her knees up disconsolately as she felt tears prick at her eyes.
Sheathing her sword, Signum watches this with a blank face; she is used to Hayate showing emotions such as these, but she has no idea what to do with her sparring partner. She feels a tightness in her chest and a pressure against her lungs at seeing the girl curled around herself, holding onto her knees and looking more like a child than Signum has ever seen her. She wants to knock the girl over and at the same time she wants to pick her up and never let go; Signum knows without a doubt, that other than her mistress, this girl holds her highest regard but she never thought that she would see her like this, broken and needy. Awkwardly, she kneels beside the blonde, rubbing her hands in uncertainty; she is unused to offering physical comfort but she can't find it inside herself to continue berating the girl into action, leaving her with little recourse. Snaking an arm around the girls shoulder, she stiffly pulls the younger girl to her chest, holding tight against the weak struggles until they both are settled on the floor, the blonde a heap in Signum's arms.
"She's going to need you to be strong when she wakes up, Testarossa, don't fail her now. And I can't stand to see you like this, so please don't fail me, either," Signum whispers against the blond hair, closing her eyes as she tightens her hold, glad to feel no resistance. Neither moves for an endless second as Fate gets her breathing under control, both content to hold onto eachother in this moment of weakness, unguarded and vulnerable.
Signum enjoys the warmth and the tickling sensation of Fate inhaling and exhaling onto her collarbone, but pulls back as soon as she feels the other girl calm herself. She wants to comfort Fate, but not take away her dignity. Pulling out of the embrace with a blush on her face, she picks up the girls weapon and stands quickly, offering a hand out for the blonde to take.
"Now fight me for real, okay? I can't wait around all day for you to get it together. If you're going to pass the exam this time around, you need to at least attempt to beat me, if you can," Signum says lightly, tugging the girl up and handing Bardiche over, before stepping back into her battle stance.
Fate stares at the staff in her hands, before looking intently at the pink haired woman. Blinking, she nods, incapable of saying anything; instead she raises Bardiche defiantly, a circle of magical energy growing out underneath her as she powers up properly, ready to go on the offensive. Signum smiles at this as she pulls her own device out of it's sheath, eager to test Fate's resolve. Stepping forward, she swings down, is blocked, sidesteps. With a grunt, she blocks an attack, twirling as she did earlier, a second too slow, this time finding Fate behind her, too quick to follow.
"Thank you," Fate whispers into her ear, causing a shiver to race down her back, before flashing away and attacking from the side. Signum vows that no matter what happens to Nanoha, she will always be here to pull Fate back up, to push her forward when the brunette couldn't, even if it meant beating her senseless. Twisting, she once again knocked Bardiche from Fate's hands, but this time the blonde quickly picks it up again, attacking back with vigor, a spark in her eyes that had been missing for weeks.
Oh damn... I'm going to be late for class. I'm not happy with the ending, but I just pushed this out real quick trying to see if I could illuminate on Signum and Fate's relationship. What do you think?

I think is really good *___* I love it.
The relationship between the two of them is simply beautiful!
An other please!
Location: SoCal!! It's pretty awesome...once you get used to the ridiculous cost of living...
Satashi, I was rereading the last few chapters of SbtB and I found a little problem in chapter 18. Early in the chapter when Nanoha and Fate are getting ready for their date you mention that Fate has the car for the night. The next day rolls around and Nanoha is walking Fate to the bus stop when she heads home....what happened to the car?
Wow. What a piece. I don't think that you had to actually get them together to get the point of that story across, it was simply beautiful. You managed to show the strength in their relationship, as well as the painful nature of the situation that both of them are in. Congratulations for making it so wonderfully believable.
...I started at the last page of this particular thread last week. I then had to travel many, many pages into it's past to even understand. I have now spent every night reading until 5 am to finally, FINALLY! , reach the last post and be able to triumphantly state that I am current in this forum. Woo!
So, hi all, I'm Elle. My brain is in overload so I won't comment until later on the numerous wonderful things that I've read here, but I will say that Mirrored Souls is awesome. <3 I think it, and mercuriangels corresponding Zafira image, won me over to his cause. Didn't realize the wolf man was so sexy; he will get more play in my story than I had originally planned, for sure.
Completely random side note... Maybe I missed it in my delirium... But, I couldn't seem to find not one Fate/Signum fic. This must be remedied, methinks.
Welcome to the party and feel free to join in the fun. I think all of Mirrored Soul's storylines are currently free (don't quote me on that though). Good to know we've dragged you over to the Zafira side.
On Fate to Signum: O.O I am in awe I look forward to reading things you write.
hey everyone, it's April fools day. What sort of pranks would the Nanoha cast pull on each other?
Spoiler for lolz:
Vivio had heard about the strange holiday from her friends at school, but she'd kept the details of it to herself, thinking that her mamas could do with some pranks since they were so serious all the time. She was eight now, and fully capable of causing all sorts of havoc without them noticing.
She set her alarm clock to wake her up well before either of her parents was even considering stirring and began her attack on their home as carefully as she could. She took cereal boxes out of the cupboards and switched the bags of cereal inside the boxes around so that whoever opened them would be in for a surprise. She took the green food coloring that Nanoha-mama thought she'd hidden after Vivio's last adventure with it (a now forever green spot on the living room rug) and put just enough into the milk in the refrigerator to make the milk look slightly old and moldy.
These were things that her friends told her to do, things that everyone of Vivio's classmates thought that the Navy and Air Force's top Aces wouldn't be able to handle. Vivio though that the jokes were a little immature, but as she poured salt into the sugar jar and sugar into the salt shaker, she couldn't help but think that the ideas were awfully childish.
She grinned, she had a far better idea.
Walking on tiptoe, she crept into her parent's bedroom and carefully picked up the small marble and triangular shaped devices from the bedside table. Her mamas were sleeping on top of each other once again, lost in a sea of hair and covers that made it almost impossible for Vivio to see that they were still even there. It was only the quiet sound of breathing that let her know that both of them were still alive.
Vivio retreated from the room as carefully as she'd come in, and dashed into the kitchen closet, the furthest place away from Fate-mama and Nanoha-mama's bedroom.
"Raising Heart, Bardiche," she said to the devices in a quiet voice.
[What is wrong?] Raising Heart asked.
"Tomorrow is April First, a day where you play tricks on people," Vivio explained, "I want you two to help me play a trick on Nanoha-mama and Fate-mama."
If either device had any objections, they didn't voice them as Vivio laid out her plans.
-
Fate yawned as she and Nanoha made their way to morning practice with the latest bunch of recruits that Nanoha had been charged with teaching. The morning had been filled with childish pranks that had been cute, in the case of the cereal and milk, and slightly annoying in the case of the switched sugar and salt. Fate knew that she should have started to simply take her coffee black. It was foolish to leave herself open to such a prank, and Vivio did love a good laugh.
They assembled the new team of six that they were training and started warm up drills. Soon it was time for more localized combat and Fate nodded to Nanoha as they both prepared to set up their devices. This particular group's training was advanced enough that Nanoha and Fate had been working on some group battle tactics with them - and attack the instructor day was always fun.
As Fate's fingers closed around Bardiche's staff form, she felt her eyes grow wide. Bardiche was pink. Hot, florescent pink, with yellow accents that seemed to call into play the original color of her device. "What happened?" she demanded of her device.
[Nothing, sir] Bardiche responded. While Fate knew that a device such as Bardiche could have no emotions, he certainly sounded quite amused. She frowned and glanced over at Nanoha, wondering if she had had anything to do with this. This was her sort of humor after all, and Nanoha was always trying to get Fate to diversify the spectrum of colors that she liked - pink was very, VERY far down the list of colors that Fate liked.
Nanoha, for her part, was looking quite... adorable.
"Nanoha," Fate said, blinking twice to make sure that she wasn't just seeing things.
Somehow, Nanoha's barrier jacket had turned into a panda suit. Fate didn't understand how something like that could have happened, since Raising Heart and Bardiche both followed their orders and their orders alone. It was as though someone had convinced the devices themselves that they should go along with this joke.
This ... joke.
Fate started to giggle, joining the rest of their class as they stared at the great and fearsome White Devil, now clad in a rather adorable panda suit and a very put-out expression.
"Nanoha?" Fate ventured once more after catching her breath and wiping tears from her eyes. "Is Raising Heart alright?"
[I am fine.] Raising Heart announced. [I am currently playing a prank on my master.]
Nanoha's brow twitched, "I am going to murder that child."

I don't come on here much, but I just had to take my hat off to you.
*takes hat off and bows*
That's really funny... Good Job.

@ Kirika-chan, Thesinwithin, TheShineySword -
Thank you for the feedback! It's encouraging to come back from class to such nice responses to your work. *blushes, feito-style*
oh...
Again @ Thesinwithin - Dude, that's fantastic. I had a Marimite image of Fate recognizing Nanoha in her panda suit from far away, running through the crowds of officers, to be held gently by her "warm, panda hands"
@Kha - It's very nice to meet you, but you shall not be able to compel me! I am impervious to cheese.... XD I hope....
On Mirrored Souls: If I didn't have work, I would totally claim Nanoha... I want to see a young and shy Fate-chan be perceptive and noticing when Nanoha is feeling really down about being away from home, despite putting on a brave and cheery face for everyone: "Everything will be okay, Nanoha," She says quietly, surprising Nanoha with how this fate knows when to comfort her, just as her Fate does. I don't know, if it's viable when I get home, I'll do it for sure. Plus, Nanoha's side needs to get some action going so... yeah. I'll check back then and stop rambling now.

Sooooo cuteee!!!!!
Nanoha in a panda suit... *goes to find an image like that*
hey everyone, it's April fools day.

Panda love~ :3 I'm with the people who thought of Marimite. If I wasn't so busy I'd write something April Foolsy
...I started at the last page of this particular thread last week.
Hello! Welcome to the forum.

I had cooked with her several time before in the past but it was a little different this time. Purposely bumping into each other and being extra flirty about things we would have normally just ignored.
The food was delicious, mainly thanks to Nanoha's ability to cook a lot better than myself. Growing up I had always microwaved things or Arf prepared it for me. Once adopted my new mother had insisted on cooking every night and making my lunches as well. I should really learn how to cook, then I could make Nanoha lunch every day.
"You're doing it again," She spoke to me with a humorous tone in her voice. "You're all giddy again."
"Ah, sorry," I flushed, slowly chewing my last bite. "I've been a little out of it lately." A long gulp of milk helped me get my head on straight again and notice she was also finished.
Together we did the dishes and had a rather large bubble fight that ended with me losing. Although we were both drenched even after cleaning up the floor we still crashed back on my bed upstairs without drying off.
Nanoha leaned against my side, allowing my arm to rest over her shoulders without protest. "So," She began while wiggling her feet stretched out on the bed. "What now?"
That's a good question. "Um, I didn't think this far." I was embarrassed at the laugh but still found it cute that she didn't seem to mind. Maybe I could ask her how it's going? An update would be nice. "Ne, Nanoha, about this week-"
"Shh," She shushed me. "I told you before, Honey, that doesn't matter right now. I'm your girlfriend." To prove her point she wrapped both arms around my waist and buried her face against my chest. I leaned over a little onto my back and had her simply lay on me completely.
"Sorry," I apologized softly, stroking her damp hair that still had soap in it.
"Mm," She hummed and shifted slightly, eyes closing. "Ne?"
"Yes?"
"Can I stay the night?" A small yawn made me realize that she was about to fall asleep after eating so much and playing.
"Sure," I leaned back on the pillows but Nanoha only moved up enough to rest her head under my chin, still on top of me fully.
"Is this uncomfortable?" Her breath tickled my skin.
Honestly? It was a little hard to breathe. "No, you're fine." I wrapped my arms around her small waist and hugged her lightly. "Are you comfortable?"
"Very," Her voice trailed off. "Sweet dreams."
"You too." I kissed her hair softly and saw her shift enough to look at me. A gentle gaze yet again and slowly her lips descended to kiss just below my neck. Her body moved slightly and she rested against me yet again.
I wasn't sure how long I laid there, awake, stroking her hair, but I did know that her steady breathing against me and warmth of her body was keeping me up. How did lovers sleep like this? With their hearts pounding so hard? Here in my arms, the girl I dreamed about, was dreaming peacefully...
But I didn't want to sleep. I could enjoy this... I sighed contently and rested my eyes, concentrating on the gentle exhales against my neck, and the soft warm body against me...
and drifted off.
Spoiler for Week pt.20:
This was a first. I have slept with Nanoha several times since we became friends but this was defiantly the first time to awake like this. My eyes opened slowly, mind groggy. Nanoha was just waking up as well it seemed. Somehow during the night we had rolled onto our sides and cuddled. Her leg was bent at the knee and was brought all the way up between my legs. Her arms were around me completly and I had half a mouthfull of her hair.
"Fate...-chan?" She was still mostly asleep, trying to blink away her tiredness while moving away just enough to look at me. As the realization dawned on both of us we each colored and looked downwards to escape each other's sight. "Um... morning..."
"Morning..." I felt suddenly cold when her leg retreated from between mine. "Sleep well?"
"Like a rock." We each spared a glance at the same time. She flushed and I smiled.
"Good," I moved closer to her, pulling her against my body again. "Want to sleep a little more?"
"Um," She fidgeted a little before going quiet. "...Yeah." This time I slid my knee between her legs and cuddled. Her top leg wrapped over mine and slid down to get comfortable. Arms laid over my back and her breath came against my neck again.
Neither of us slept. Instead we simply played with each other's hair, talking softly. I was flirting openly, running my finger along her spine up under her shirt, and then resting it on her side. In return she mimicked my actions and spoke against my neck. I wasn't really aware of how long we stayed like that but when we finally did pull apart I felt a strange sensation of emptiness grip at my front.
"Um," Nanoha blushed again, laughing lightly. "My bra is all out of whack." To prove her point she reached under her shirt and adjusted it. I wanted to tease her about it but mine was the same way. I was amazed we could even sleep in them like we did. But then again, I was sleeping with her... "H-Honey?" Nanoha covered her face with both hands. "Don't... don't look at me like that."
"But you're pretty," I insisted, slowly taking her wrist and encouraging her to reveal herself. "There you go."
"But... my hair is messy and my face hasn't been washed yet..." She looked at me with a half pout. Not being able to help it, I leaned forward and kissed her on the corner of her left eye. "Fate-chan..."
"Yes, My Angel?" Another small gasp and blush.
"D-don't..."
I moved forward and hugged her tightly. "Sorry," I told her gently, holding her to my body to sooth the cold that gripped me when we parted.
"... It's okay." She hugged me back. Several moments passed in silence before we parted, but she still hid herself form my sight. "Let's...Go do something?"
"Yeah, I'd like that." I tried to make her look at me but she covered her face again, ears burning red. "You're so cute."
So cute! I love these three updates!

I really liked this short fic. I think the relationship between the two was captured really well. Felt a bit bad for Signum because its one-sided.

Quick question on this before I comment: What exactly is is about? I'm just curious.
Now, to comment:
Aww. So sweet and fuzzy.
I remember doing this with my girl back when we were at school together, and the rest of my apartment mates were out doing something else.
Usually happened every time we were in one of our apartments Friday or Saturday night.
Let me explain:
She and I used to go to Calvin, a school in Michigan. Over there, you lived in dorms for the first two years (unless you were an RA or something), and after that, lived in campus-sponsored apartments that were maybe 5-10 minutes walk from the main campus. She was a year ahead when we starting dating, so the fall after we got together, she moved over to the apartments. The year after that, I moved over too.
So, for a couple of years, on Friday or Saturday nights, three out of four weeks a month (one F/Sa, we went out somewhere and did something - which was practically all we could really afford, being broke college students), we inevitably ended up doing this.
Sometimes a bed, sometimes a couch, most often when we were watching a movie that did not have: 1 - an actor one of us was interested in; 2 - nonstop action and/or comedy; 3 - MST3K - or some combination of those. But it usually happened...I miss those days a lot. Since then, whenever we've met, it's always been in the presence of one or the other's family, and we have to hold back in getting cuddly with each other. Those days, there wasn't anyone really watching, and we could be ourselves.

I suggest you look back a couple deca-pages and find week one, and read from there :3

This was more than enough of a comment. The rest below was really unneeded, and irrelevant.

...ahh. I'm rambling again.
Sorry 'bout that.
But then again you apologize, so I suppose I could be lenient. But still...
hey everyone, it's April fools day.

LOLOLOL. I think that Nanoha's not amused at all by the events of her April First. Fate will make it up to her when she's done laughing. And having her Marimite moment. LOLOLOL.
And it's fine, you're welcome to doodle for my fics, it's an honor.
Location: In the Netherrealm, thinking who to betray next...

My fics are usually unplanned when I start them and then I go walking around my block with my best friend and we bake them quite a bit. Usually, though, when I go into writing something, I have no idea what I'm doing.
Actually, when you think about it, my Nanoha Fic is sort of a grand experiment in the realms of planning fanfiction, as the plot is completely mapped out.
ETA: Page Claimed in the name of my roommate deciding to use the bathroom just as I want to shower. D:
Well, I really plan my fics before start them, I start with the "Mental Gion"
of Rise of Techno-Union like 5 months ago (actually I have the story finished in my mind) and I have another story called "Caballeros de Seluria" (Knights of Seluria) My master pice , I start working in that story like 8 years ago

Oh damn... I'm going to be late for class. I'm not happy with the ending, but I just pushed this out real quick trying to see if I could illuminate on Signum and Fate's relationship. What do you think?
Wow!
It's amazing, you really get my attention, that's a Signum that I never expected to see, I hope you made more of this kind, I really enjoyed it
@Thesinwithin: Oh yeah! I almost forgot, I really enjoy that joke of Vivio Bueno Amigo!
