That's speculation based on the anime PV stating it would transcend Zestiria.

As reluctant as they are, seiyuu can be replaced. This happened before with Igor's seiyuu.

Because people were complaining that Alisha was left behind, so the DLC addressed exactly that.

Sorey sealed himself away without telling Alisha (or anyone, for that matter). The DLC had Alisha find out all about what happened when she was away.

During the main story, Alisha had a breakdown over Maltran. The DLC had Alisha coming to terms with herself and what happened to Maltran.

During the main story, Alisha was left behind because her lack of ability to sense seraphs was hurting Sorey.

Sorey sealed off his senses explicitly so that people like Alisha could become Shepherds and Squires without having perfect resonance like Sorey and Rose. By the end of the DLC, Alisha is still Rose's Squire.

Of course, people already had their minds made up from the beginning, so the DLC was a futile effort to fix things anyway.

The timing of the DLC announcement and release less than a month after the main game was released shows it was planned long before the game was released, and thus long before players said anything about Alicia....

While they never officially said they were going to continue that plot line, it's pretty clear it was meant to be part one of a series the way it ended. But fan outrage at what Bamco was clearly doing killed that plan when they tried to fix the situation by making the DLC free. No money = no point in trying to milk Alicia anymore.

Between the DLC plans and Berseria being a prequel of sorts, I find it strange that the team had all these plans to expand on the Zestiria world, more than they did for their other series.

It shouldn't even matter anyway, considering Berseria's relation to Zestiria would be as distant as Symphonia's relation to Phantasia.

To be fair though, just by announcing it's related at all to Zestiria is going to hurt its initial impressions. People were not fond of Malevolence (which is already shown to be a thing) or Seraphs (which are already shown to be a thing). There's also what appear to be Shepherds, which are going to annoy people solely for reminding them of Zestiria.
