I called the torso Urie found being Torso, but I never imagined Mutsuki was this fucked up. What she did in the past and then to Torso's corpse was just sick.
Now we can fully understand why Torso's backstory was important. He and Mutsuki were the same. Actually, Mutsuki is even more messed up than he was.

Holy crap Chapter 79
Torso's character and backstory were kind of meh to me by itself. But when linked to this chapter, Ishida Sui's genius really shows itself.

regeneration in Tokyo Ghoul is quite disproportionate since the beginning of the series, just remember that Touka and Nishiki have used bandages or that there are ghouls with scars.
my bet, Mutsuki killed torso with her kagune, and after eating some parts of his body, she regenerated these days that passed and then she regained consciousness. anyway, sinister chapter, Mutsuki is pretty sick. |

Mutsuki is torso. Dun Dun DUN! lol
So Yeah the chapter was pretty sick. Also it seems she was "instructed" by the same individual who tortured Jason. I forget his name. So Mutsuki has a split personality? It would make sense since she always seemed too "normal" to be a "trouble" student at the CCG. Edit: The guys name is Goumasa Tokage. Seems that way. It seems she killed cats and...stored them. bleh. So they could always be together. Gentleness expressed in the madness?

Also, it looks like one Special Class investigator died. It can't be anyone in Cochlea since they said they would not mention the stuff that is going on there to those on the Raiding Team. So, on the island, the special class investigators are: Matsuri Washuu Itsuki Marude Koori Ui Juuzou Suzuya Kousuke Houji On kissmanga, it says "The Special Class... was killed in action?". On mangastream, it says "The Special Class... followed his master to death?". Not sure if any of them lost "masters", but Ui, Suzuya and Houji all lost their former partners (Shinohara is in a coma, but he might be considered dead). I can't believe they would kill Suzuya just like that, though. |

So, Mutsuki has a split personality, which kicks in when her survival mode is on? Or is she just crazy? Is she collecting body parts of the people/cats she killed in that jar and deluding herself that because their body parts were still in the jar then they were alive?

the basic difference between Mutsuki and Kaneki is that while Kaneki since childhood had subtle mental problems, torture only increased and channeled it, while Mutsuki alwyas fucked up head since child because of beatings and possibly rape.

Mutsuki has a major issue with her past. She got abused and arguably (well, rather very likely. Only thing not confirming it was that it's off-paneled but the context speaks for itself) raped by her father and since then has a complex of being a weak girl. One reason she wants to be a man is to escape her trauma and prevent it from happening again not for the sake of identification. It's a lie she told herself cause she can't handle the past so she became what she hates and fears in order to escape the trauma. This topic is even brought up by Takizawa in the auction. Another reason is that she is a batshit insane murderer and she knows it but does not want to accept it. That's why she is running herself into lies she herself believes thus repressing the truth of the incident of having savagely murdered her family and neighborhood pets. She lied to herself and others that a ghoul killed her family and believes it despite that they know it. She lied to herself and others that she ain't killing cats despite they knew it. Female Mutsuki is an extremely brutal individual created by her father's treatment so eventually, she created the lie of being a man. Female Mutsuki is equal to her murderous past that she is in denial about, so her lies became truth to her. Again, it's not about gender indification or being trans. The male Mutsuki is her creation that acts as a shield made of lies blocking out her past that comes back when said shield is broken. It's like two personas but not DID or split personalities. Female Mutsuki is being blocked out and surpressed by her own lies that gave birth to male Mutsuki. If male Mutsuki disappears, then what remains is the murderous female Mutsuki. Male Mutsuki is her own creation and lie that surpresses her true self of being a savage and demented fiend. And that fiend seems to have just been unleashed when she came to self-realization. Basically: Female Mutsuki is equal to this fucked up killer, that's her past and the truth of her being. So male Mutsuki was created by her own lies she herself believes in denial over: A - Her abuse. An escape from it. And B - Her being a monster. This is not a matter of gender identification or a trans matter. Mutsuki is living in delusions and lies that lock away her past and herself. She's rejecting her past and true monstrous self which is directly related to her womanhood (cause it all ends up being born from the abuse she received from her father, a man, to her, a girl) and to why she's (keyword incoming) lying about being male cause her womanhood is part of her monstrous self she is in denial about. It's a very deep rooted problem not relating to something as simple as identification like people want to make it out but about her monstrous self that happens to be related and born to her having a complex of being a girl that got abused and raped ending up in in layers and layers of lies she told herself, such as being or wanting to be a man. And to address the elephant in the room: There is no way she's trans or actually wants to be male, the entire male matter is a lie resulting from all her issues. And the issues she has are severe leading to her lie about being male, that's a whole different thing than what people think with PC, Transgender and the likes. A lie she told herself is not the same as being transgender cause the entire reason she started with the male lie was due to her past, not cause she wants to be male but because being female equals to her being completely insane. She's literally lying to herself by being male cause she can't accept that being female for herself means being a completely insane murderer. It's denial that became truth for her cause she kept lying to herself. Denial over her true self. Lying to excuse her denial over her true self. Truth because she believes her own lies she told to excuse her denial over her true self. That's all for the analysis on Mutsuki Last edited by Golden_Witch; 2016-06-05 at 07:43. |

@ Golden_Witch One thing that I find interesting is the current contrast between her and Ken.
She is unable to accept the ugly truth of herself and thus she rather believe the lie. This is a contrast to what happened with Ken the last time we saw him in his fight with Arima. ken was finally able to accept the truth of himself. Their next meeting will be pretty interesting seeing how they are now. |
