Pick- Nanana, Nymph, Rena, Honoka
Predict- Kana, Yuuki, Rena, Honoka Interesting that current interim says Nymph is beating Yuuki. Makes me wonder if its fakes or Saki ended up weaker than I thought. Last edited by Ichuki; 2014-08-18 at 20:26. |

Saimoe 2014 starts today. First match seems to have a bunch of characters with middling performances in the preliminaries. Kana used to be a lot stronger but I think she can still win since her opponents aren't too strong. Nymph looked awful in preliminaries. Yuuki should be the stronger of the two Saki characters so she'll advance. Aislinn may hang on to second place despite the vote split. Rena got in through first preliminaries while Suzuka and Maho didn't. It's hard to believe but Rena may get to take some people home in what may finally be her final Saimoe tournament. Love Live didn't really get many easy round 1 match ups. Honoka should win here but Yui advancing probably isn't out of the question.
Votes: Minami Shizuku Nymph Ryuuguu Rena Yuigahama Yui Predictions: Minami Kana Kataoka Yuuki Ryuuguu Rena Kousaka Honoka

I told myself that I'd be sitting this one out for the year, but I guess curiosity eventually got the better of me. I ended up coming back just in time for the start of the main tournament.
Hmm, it's nice to see the Higurashi girls again. I'd pick Rena and Tacos for today. I don't know a lot of the other girls in today's match... I need to get with the times. Also, looks like Sayaka and Charlotte D. are having an early rematch of their 2011 fight on the 24th along with Saori in the mix...

There's two anime characters in my sig, and they're there for a reason. One of them is competing next.
Go Honoka Go! I very much hope to see the LL! girls, especially Honoka, do well this year. They definitely capture the full essence of moe, in my view. Now, as for the other character in my sig... Let me just say it's a real pleasure to see Coldlight back. Cheering for Sayaka would not be the same without Sayaka's other biggest fan on Anime Suki also being here to cheer her on.

Current state is still pretty much like what I posted. Satsuki is left very far at the bottom while Kana and Nanana are fighting for the 1st place, with Shizuku not far behind. Nymph is still beating Tacos. Maho vs Rena and Honoka vs Yui are very close battles. Might be beware of fake votes, Honoka.

Matches: A1-2 B1-2 C1-2 D1-2
Shizuno goes up and she shouldn't have any problems winning. Alice in the second match should have even less trouble. Although Alice wants a strong showing to show Kiniro Mosaic is a championship candidiate. No trouble for Natsumi either in the third match. Like Alice, Natsumi probably still wants to have a good showing. Kazumi probably isn't that strong but Komurasaki and Yasuna should be among the weakest characters in the tournament. Komurasaki made it through second preliminaries with just 14 votes. Votes: Takakamo Shizuno Alice Cartelet Ogiyama Aoi Komurasaki Predictions: Takakamo Shizuno Alice Cartelet Koshigaya Natsumi Kazumi Schlierenzauer

Final hour
Match 1 is too close to call Match 2: Yuuki gave herself an early handicap against Nymph and has now rebounded to take a lead. Nymph is still close enough that she could get her lead back (although Yuuki might be pulling away now) Match 3: Rena is going for the surprise "Bad" end win. (Cute or not, not changing my opinion on Yanderes) Appears to be a convincing lead over Maho (and now Suzuka) Match 4: Yuigahama has a decent lead over Honoka (not good for LoveLive if they have a loss on the first day). |

Not much of a change between total votes and official total votes, so I have at least one tracker to follow.
- Kana takes advantage of low vote totals to remain a "Boss" in round 1 - Nymph takes advantage of a Saki split to win against a group winner (Yuuki) - Rena doesn't have the most winning votes, but she does have the most convincing win (55 VD over 2nd place) and the closest challenger was Suzuka, not Maho - Bad start for Love Live. Yuigahama continues on to the next round (A1-2) Pick preference: Shizuno (Saki) > Origami (DAL) (B1-2) No real preference but going with Minori Nakazawa (No-Rin) (C1-2) Pick preference: Aoi Ogiyama (Ro-Kyu-Bu) > Natsumi (Non Non Biyori) (D1-2) Picking: Komurasaki (Unbreakable Machine Doll) |

Edit 2: Official results out. No change to above results, feel free to congratulate the winners.
Even doing well in rush hours can't save Tacos today, first sign in the tournament to say that Saki will have it tough this year. Rena and Yui winning are big surprises to myself even. I'm more than just happy right now.

Yuuki not winning does give Madoka motivation that she can win against whichever Saki rep she faces next round (that is assuming she also wins).
There are however two other challengers that didn't want to see Yuuki win alot more, Nibutani and Suiseiseki.
