According to animenewsnetwork, the Hare Hare Yukai single sold out completely on the first day and is now the 18th best selling single on the 1st day ever.

All hail Haruhiism! Hirano Aya must be really famous now, as Haruhi and with 2 singles topping charts and selling out.

"Hare Hare Yukai" just jumped from 18th to 2nd place in the Oricon daily rank chart (dated 5/12)... o.O

Looks like this will be a fun weekend.

Haruhi-ism has now transcended otaku-dom and caught the attention of the mainstream, for now at least.

I wonder if the single is being artificially stopped from reaching no.1, by the so-called "elitist mainstream" who are in charge of the Oricon rankings who discriminate all things anime?

(Artificially stopping a single from reaching no.1 is not a new trick. In 1977, controversial British rock band the Sex Pistols had their single titled "God Save the Queen", obviously to gain publicity in the midst of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Their single went up to no.2, but many believe it was deliberately stopped from going to no.1 due to its name. )

Just wondering, how many anime/manga-related singles reached #1 do you guys know of? I remember reading in animenewsnetwork that GSeed Destiny OP #1 and ED #2 made number 1, the ED song for the Nana movie, but that's all I remember.

On one hand, it's a pity(?) that it didn't at least make it into the top 3 (like 2 of the Happy Material CDs did), on the other hand, considering some of the big competitors on the list, 5th is... pretty good?

Speaking of which, Everyone seems to have just finished the recordings of their character songs yesterday (souce: Chihara Minori's blog + Gotou Yuuko's diary). it appears that Minori-san's song is called 「雪、無音、窓辺にて。」 ("Yuki, Muon, Madobe nite.") ("Snow, Soundless, by the Window")

Anyone who has read vol.8 of the novel will probably sense a reference between the contents of Yuki's horror fantasy novel and this song name. ^^;

Either that, or get/make a friend living in Japan, and get that friend to buy and mail the items to you.

Other than that, if you live outside Japan, the internet is pretty much the only way you can obtain the goods.

By the way, the (almost) full version of "Koi no Mikuru Densetsu" way played during this week's SOS-dan radio meeting. It was... incredible.

I swore I heard "カモンゲッツチャンスカモンゲッツチャンスベイビー~ T-O-B-で~ 株を買い占め" ("Come on get chance, come on get chance, baby~ buy out all the stocks through TOB (take over bid)") in the second chorus. ^^;
