Godzilla -1.0 Movie
New Toho Godzilla movie will be directed by Takashi Yamazaki.
I love Stand By Me Doraemon by this guy & also like Parasyte live-action enough, so this is an inspired choice director at least. Also, happy Godzilla Day! Here's a little something from the franchise:

Godzilla fans are anxious by this choice of director because of Dragon Quest: Your Story, specifically the ending; Doraemon and Parasyte were "safe" because he can't stray from source material. Some who attend Godzilla Festival mentioned the enthusiasm from "new Godzilla movie" went downhill when the director announced, simply hope he learned something after general reception of Dragon Quest: Your Story.

As usual, hoping for the best here. Last time we had a Doraemon director making Godzilla, we got Singular Point, which is pretty good.

Matt Shakman Talks ‘Godzilla’ Series Timeline and How It’ll Fit
Into the Movie Monster Franchise "we could see the release of Apple TV+'s untitled Godzilla and the Titans series. Announced in early 2022 from creators Matt Fraction and Chris Black, the ambitious show will follow a family's quest to unveil the secrets of the monsters and explore their connection to the secret organization Monarch. Bringing it all together is a talented TV creative in WandaVision's Matt Shakman who has big plans for the 10-episode series." See: https://collider.com/godzilla-series...kman-comments/ |

It has 97-98% RT score, "A" Cinemascore and hold #3 at the US Box Office for two weeks with only 27% drop, making it the most successful live-action foreign movie ever in Hollywood so far. And it was largely based on word-of-mouth alone & no big marketing.

It’s doing very well, but “most successful live-action foreign movie” is kind of a deceptive term. Crouching Tiger slow-rolled its opening because the distributor didn’t realize what they had, but it would up doing $163 million in the U.S., in 2000 dollars. Even not factoring for inflation I don’t think there’s any way G-1 approaches that.

Godzilla Minus One got re-released in black & white, amassing more than 100 Million Dollars worldwide & receiving an Oscar nomination for the first time in the franchise history.
It's truly an achievement by Takashi Yamazaki even after many people doubted him but I already said that he is an inspired choice for this movie since the first announcement
