Last book that I've read was a Regency Romance book from the London era 1700s-1900s called Wicked Earl by Margaret McPhee. It's a very good book, and full of romance. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is 17+ years old...

The Memorist by M. J. Rose.
This book is considered, by the biased reivews on the back at least, the "Da Vinci Code done right." Yeah, right. Sure, it's by no means bad. It's just less gripping, less exciting - creditability or not, the latter is a good thriller while this bored me. It had an interesting premise, but the excution was uninteresting. |

Tsugumi by Yoshimoto Banana, Koike Mariko's Koi and Abe Koubou's Suna no Onna. I seem to have been pretty lucky with my choices of Japanese books so far - I liked everything and some works I might even call brilliant.
Having a bit of trouble picking the next one to read from my stack though...

Turquoise Days by Alastair Reynolds.
More a novella than a book, but still really good. Provides even more info of the Revelation universe and is quite a horrifying story about the two sisters on a research planet getting a little visit. As usual, Reynolds portray the feeling of loneliness in space, and a sense of despair/hopelessness. Not the best, but still definetly worth a read.

Crossing the Curriculum: Multilingual Learners in College Classrooms
edited by Vivian Zamel & Ruth Spack Read it along w/ some other books for a research paper on similar subject. Actually a very interesting read if you're curious about teaching and the relationship between teacher and student.

I'm nearly finished reading "The Glass Key" by Dashiell Hammett. Before that I read his
"The Maltese Falcon" "The Thin Man" "The Dain Curse" and "Red Harvest" Both "The Thin Man" and "The Maltese Falcon" are two of my favorite old movies! That's why I hunted down his books and read them. They're well worth it! Recently I've read a few of Harry Harrison's "Stainless Steel Rat" books. I particularly liked "The Stainless Steel Rat goes to Hell". I'm sort of in love with Slippery Jim. (^_^) |
