Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?
New promo video. I'm surprised by the amount of scenes involving Kira and Lacus. Feels like they finally decided to develop more these two's relationship or at least make it more active when compared to how they were in SEED or Destiny. Still...

Spoiler for ending:

A little bit of correction: Gundam Hathaway grossed 2.2+ Billion Yen, not 2.1.

Also...

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom novel by Liu Goto, ch.2 tidbits:
TL;DR…
SPOILERS
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?
A few things:
- The mention of the Kipchak Khanate places Foundation in the historical Cumania region on the Eurasian steppe. Possibly a stand-in for modern-day Kazakhstan.
- Orphee's ring brings forth two different theories (which might or might not be disproved in later chapters, who knows) to explain its existence:
Spoiler:

Chapter 3 concludes volume 1.

All this movie talk got me going back to look at some parts of Destiny I liked, and can I just say I really liked the presentation at the Battle of Junius Seven with Yzak, Athrun, and Dearka. It didn't last long but they basically showcased that when they have their heads in the game they could easily keep up with new model Gundams inside of Zakus.

Technology had caught up, most used beam weapons so phase shift was less effective. Gundams simply had more versatility by that point. That could be made up for with skill and they were elites. Kira with freedom was simply an exception. Loved how the Chaos was destroyed by normal soldiers. Lol

Also, SEED FREEDOM didn't just dethrone Encounters In Space for its total revenue, it also knocked down Demon Slayer from the weekend box office. DS was on its 2nd week, GSF its 3rd week.

Yeah, the new Demon Slayer "movie" is not really a movie. It's just a scam-y move by Ufotable. They basically just slapped together episodes from last season & next season of Demon Slayer and call it a movie. It's too bad that Demon Slayer "movie" still raked in 1+ Billion yen & counting while other (better) movies couldn't even reach a Billion.

Wow. I thought Char's Counterattack was the the highest grossing Gundam movie not the 70s' compilation.

CCA never was. Maybe it's a Mandela effect or something.

Let's set the record straight so there's no more misunderstanding or misinformation:
  • 1981: Mobile Suit Gundam: ¥1.76 billion
  • 1981: Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow: ¥1.30 billion
  • 1982: Gundam III: Encounters in Space: ¥2.31 billion
  • 1988: Char's Counterattack: ¥1.16 billion
  • 1991: Gundam F91: ¥520 million
  • 1992: Gundam 0083: Afterglow of Zeon: ¥69 million
  • 2005: Zeta Gundam: Heirs to the Stars: ¥863 million
  • 2005: Zeta Gundam II: Lovers: ¥600 million
  • 2006: Zeta Gundam III: Love Is the Pulse of the Stars: ¥493 million
  • 2010: Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer: ¥866 million
  • 2018: Gundam Narrative: ¥670 million
  • 2021: Gundam Hathaway: ¥2.21 billion
  • 2022: Cucuruz Doan's Island: ¥1.08 billion

Apparently, based on some translations the two first met when working together on Turn A.

Is that adjusted for inflation?

No.
Yen inflation for movie tickets is not much anyway. It won't suddenly make CCA beat Hathaway in terms of box office.
