I had to do something to keep them away from the dust

Not too elegant but it will do until I can buy (and make room for) a glass-cabinet

Thanks. I got the nendo too at the beginning of the year

Haha... ya gotta' do whatcha gotta' do. I'd rather see them behind a piece of plastic than still in the box.

No offense to those who leave figures in the box.

I just leave mine out and dust them off now and then. Some are on a cheap shelf I bought, some on my computer desk, dining table, end stand, bedroom dresser. I've got 'em all over the place.

I'm still envious of Starburst's arrangement.

I'm hoping to one day get some of those cabinets.

Me too, also got them all over the room.
Keeping 200+ figures in cabinets would be a major pain, even if most of them are trading figures

But I had to come up with something for the more valuable ones

I was looking to getting a few figurines and nendoroids, including the Triumphant Excalibur Saber. Unfortunately, Hobbysearch's reservation list is closed. AmiAmi has them, but it has a little note that says "**This product is intended for sale within Japan."

Does this mean I can't get it if I live in another country, like the United States?

Never seen that before. You can only try to buy it. If they reject the order, no go, I guess. You don't pay until the order is processed and ready to be shipped so no harm trying.

Good news, Golden Caliburn shipments have left GSC finally.

Bad news? Tokyo Hunter's shipment has been sent to the wrong address. Most likely have her early next month at this stage.

Getting excited.

Seeing due to it being released back in late 08 and now only able to be found on eBay at $220US+, before shipping....my interest just instantly died. Same reasons I don't chance the Nanoha and Fate figures by Alter since they're well over $300US.

Random questions: are there any import taxes/duties for the U.S. when buying figurines from a Japanese company? Also, just how much more reliable is registered SAL compared to unregistered?

Sorry for the questions. I'm new to this >_<.

As far as I know, there are no import duties/taxes. I've been buying from Hobby Search Japan for a bit now, and so far I've only had to pay the original price + shipping. I don't think US customs even look at the items, as I have not had a box that has been opened in any way yet. They probably just run it through the x-ray, see that it's some kind of a toy, and just let it pass.

As for registered vs unregistered SAL, I dunno, as I just pay the extra bit for EMS.

Registered SAL doesn't seem particularly useful as it's only registered in Japan, not outside of it. I've ordered a number of things, a few shipped with registered SAL, and the tracking of them still shows them in Tokyo despite being in my cabinet. EMS tracking is international.

The delivery guy here is confounded by it, he's all "it's another one of those boxes that says registered post, but no barcode for my scanner..."

Error there, registered mail works fine with any country mail service with compatible tracking package service, Spanish mail service (mine) works fine with registered SAL and that's brilliant, is like having EMS service paying some less

There are no Customs fees for entering the US, unless you're importing something major like a car or something. For a toy, you won't be charged.

My bank account really isn't looking forward to September.

Yui/Mio Nendo's and I think the first Angel Beats Nendo petit set was next month too. That and I've also got the K-On game ordered and probably Pokemon Black or White. Also just shoved an order down for the BRS Figma, looks really cool!

Yeah, my bank account has taken a hit recently with all of these Touhou figures, and Vivio. A few more on order yet. My cabinet is already running out of room; I think I'm gonna have to not order any more, wait on my current pre-orders and sort out the cabinet, and my finances, before committing to more.
