For elfen lied, it's that one particular scene during the first few minutes of the pilot episode that shocked me the most and I still remember it this day *sigh* that poor side character chick and as for berserk, it really pissed me off (not shocked though) during the final scene as guts watches casca being violated by his best bud while being held down by the apostles and what shocked me though is the part where everyone else is being sacrifice to the apostles.

id say a couple of eps of Paranoia Agent, especially with that one scene with the guy robbing a house and he had a couple tied up then their daughter came home from school.......and he says "call me daddy" and it shows her freaking out then they go to another scene.........

That's probably the only scene in anime that actually got to me as far as "disturbing" goes. And I'm pretty desensitized to these things.

Heh, seems like Elfen Lied is a popular choice. Not surprising, really. Elfen Lied seems to be one of those animes that goes for shock value.

I find pure gore for the sake of gore kind of annoying sometimes, in a lot of animes (like Baccano, Elfen) I was no longer shocked by some of the torturous things because they were so common (still loved the shows though). The first anime the haunted me was a few scenes from the first FMA:

- For some reason I was really disturbed by the bird thing that Cornello told Rose was her boyfriend (what as that thing? It even sounded gross!)
- Nina, poor Nina. Then what her dad turned into...

The beginning, the end, and the movie theat scene of EOE is disturbing, but the whole movie and tv series resemble the recent earthquake so much that the whole series has become disturbing for me...

Let's hope they can come p with something as dramatic for the rebuild.
