Episode 02 screencaps and summary

The animation is still as good as the first episode and the story is even more intriguing. The writers even make an attempt to connect the first prologue with the second prologue by having Maka and Soul talking about Black Star/Tsubaki.

Well, same for me. I never liked Black*Star, probably because he remind me of Naruto. =/

Oh, and on the first screencrap on Dx's website, he remind me of Coud Van Giruet ... ô_o xD At least there is Tsubaki.=D

As it's already been mentioned, the animation yet again is on top form. It truly is outstanding how they've kept it up --- though one as to wonder just how long then can keep it up. I'd love more then anything for the animation to stay at this level, though with 51 episodes to work with, it kinda seems impossible. But jesus wow the fight scene --- so damn impressive.

Only new material here was the meeting between Maka/Soul & Black Star/Tsubaki. I only read the first three stories in the manga, so this is my first time seeing the main characters together like this.

Well, as a non-manga reader, I think that Soul Eater started out much better than Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Busou Renkin, HunterxHunter etc... I´ll probably pick up the manga sooner or later but for now I´ll stick with the anime.

I´m not comparing anything other than my thoughts after the initial first episode. Since I read quite a few posts (although I think most, if not all, of them talked about the manga rather than this first episode) saying it was a slow start. Apart from One Piece and now Soul Eater all of the shonen shows I´ve seen are shows that grew on me until 10-20ish in which they became pretty damn cool with a few climax fights and the usually upgraded animation.

I think Soul Eater has got the best 1st OP too.

The ridiculous just increase as the story advance.

I still like Kid, although he's just silly above everything. Maka because she is scythe-user . The only reason I feel happy when I see Black Star is because Tsubaki is with him. God, that guy is just plain stupid ~_~

after Maka "defeats" her, Ragnarok comes out and wants to attack Maka and is stopped by Chrono, Ragnarok then proceeds to uhm, do ecchi things to Chrono which leaves Maka and Soul going -_-|||. And... Uhh... the ecchi scene in question is not something chrono would be subject to if she were a guy...

Soul says "she" in reference to Chrona obviously he can be mistaken. But Ragnarok also says she and he's getting a good look at her "goods" in that scene so if he was wrong I'm retty sure he would've stopped lol...

Always take pronouns with a grain of salt. Like in the example before, the Japanese was gender-neutral, but the translation changed it

Just finished with Episode 2

Spoiler for Changes from manga:

- First meeting. I guess this means we'll see the same in the next episode

- All of Maka/Soul's scenes. The bulletin board part was interesting, I think we've only seen something similar (but not the same) once in the manga.

- Al Capone gang's slaughtered bodies -> Kishin Eggs

- A LOT of dialogue changes. Then again, this is probably the most morally ambiguous of the three.

The first episode was very good. Animation was top notch, I just hope this isn't like some shows that have a couple of episodes with great animation and then... well, you know.

Now if the next episodes are as good as the first one, this show has everything to beat the crap out of Bleach, Naruto and other shounens. There is just no comparison, Soul Eater not only has charismatic characters but it also takes place on a crazy and interesting world, you just need to add great animation and music and you will have a winning formula. At least IMO.

EDIT: Wow, I just realized now that Soul Eater is being animated by BONES so, yeah, we can expect this level of animation the whole series.
