Caught up on the last few episodes. Honestly....I kind of expected more story from all the drama. The few big reveals are really ham fisted, which is annoying because there's no hint of misdirection.

I think I'm at the point where I want all the kids to turn into monsters just because that would at least be something more interesting than a giant metaphor about growing up in a world of shitty adults.

Futoshi. I'm sure Hiro and 02 will get better, she's just going through her heroic BSOD phase, "I'm a monster yadda yadda", that usually is solved eventually. Futoshi's heartbreak is not going to be easily mended though .

Don't know how it'll go next episode but I have an issue with the whole "Darling from back then" thing. If remembering that is what can calm Zero Two down it means the relationship she has with Hiro in the present doesn't mean much.

It really doesn't mean much, this is her true feelings coming out when people are angry or upset or distraught, things you would normally keep hidden come out. The filter you normally have is gone

Looks like all the events from the preview were flashbacks. If the genders were reversed we'd probably be talking about "beauty and the beast"

I wonder if it was some kind of foreshadowing that 02's initial pilot suit (eps 1-6 or so) was solid red, somewhat matching her past skin colour.

If Futoshi manage to move pass this and forgive Kokoro then he will automatically prove himself better than Mitsuru.
Considering Mitsuru's entire reason to act like a jerk was Hiro not remembering his promise with him. Mitsuru used this as his excuse for antagonize everybody.
Even though it was a childish promise that wouldn't have work out anyway and Hiro has a reason for this which Mitsuru will eventually find out .
However, Futoshi got dumped by his first love who decided to break her promise and choose Mitsuru over him. Something like this should legitimately traumatize a person and make him distrust all girls.
So, if Futoshi able to move on from this then it will prove that he is a better person than Mitsuru even though he is fat, ugly and lost the girl at the end.
