Takara Tomy announced a new Zoids series (as well as a manga) for this summer to accompany the release of their new Zoids toyline.

Norihiko Sudo (from Pokemon DP) will be the director and Mitsutaka Hirota (The Prince of Tennis II) will be in charge of the scripts.

Personally, I was a huge fans of the Chaotic Century and New Century as well are some of their video games (even if the translation was considered horrible I still loved Zoids: Legacy for the GBA).

However, what I'm not a fan off is that they seem to be riding on top of the Zoids in this new series instead of piloting them from the inside.

Just watched episode 1, I'm going to watch this series for nostalgic sake.

I like how the one of the ring leaders of the main villain is still active in the next episode.

I'm kind of relieved it is going to be some kind of adventure genre, not children's tournament.

Still, not used to riding on a Zoid on top of its head yet.

One more thing, another Empire, these Empires is really getting old, and just how many more of these Empires the main characters has to defeat?

Why are the Zoids so small? Why don't they have cockpits? And how does the main character get his hair to do that?

Honestly, I would have liked it better if they had started with the kid being stepped on by a full sized Zoid as he was playing with his stupid ,death wish, traps and then went on to at least try to make a decent show.

Maybe not the same plot twist.
Still seeing the prequels, there was Guylos Empire in Chaotic Century and Guardian Force, and Digald Empire in Genesis.

Made me think why it has to be almost every time an Empire is the faction that have this objectives in world domination?
How about a Republic for a change maybe?

The first Empire i heard in anime was Eggman Empire from Sonic X.
And now there's this Empire named Death Metal in this one.

In zoids tradition since the Model Box stories, the Old battlle story, was the Zenebas Empire as they break up the republic as Zenebas the second child of King-President Hellic Muroa(he was a king and later become president) with his second wife was not named president he created the empire, later when the metoric shower( a canon falls rock everyone dies) that rebooted to the New Battle Story(the one Chaotic Century was based) With Gulyos Empire who later radical make the Neo Zenebas empire/Nox Empire and so on.

Yeah Empire is a tradition to a full war story, why in a Little Battle Experience clone will use it?

A lot different then what we are used to seeing, the people are riding them and piloting them from the outside and using that key to complete the bonding with the Zoid, I don't mind the change though, it's something new and different.

The Wild Liger looks to be pretty strong, I really liked the transformation scene, it got some cool looking weapons from it.

I thought this was ok, it wasn't the same spectacular action I am used to when it comes to Zoids but I thought it was fine for a first episode, there will be plenty of action to come, especially next episode by the looks of it.

Very happy to see another Zoids anime, been a long time since Genesis.

Chaotic Century/Guardian Force still my favourite.

I still love playing the Zoids Legacy (Saga II) DS Game, so much fun.

Spoiler for Episode 2 Comments/Feedback:

Arashi thinks they are partners but Wild Liger had other ideas, it wouldn't listen to him at all, those 2 have a long way to go

I like the determination Arashi has to become it's partner, those flashbacks in this and the 1st episode shows us his motivation in doing so.

Didn't get to see much of Drake but I bet he's going to be the main rival, he even mentioned wild blast, it wouldn't surprise me if he has that ability with his Zoid.

All right Arashi figured it out and now him and Wild Liger are now in perfect synch with one another, they are truly partners.

So the question is whether shaggy head really wants the Wild Liger or just wants to test Arashi to make sure he is ready for the outside world and the upcoming battles the will happen if he goes.

so is this series still set in the same universe as the previous series? as in after Genesis? or its an alternate universe?

I heard it is an alternate universe.
This series takes place on planet Earth, not planet Zi.
Saying that Zoids has come to earth according to the official site.

Spoiler for Episode 3 Comments/Feedback:

I had a feeling that Bacon didn't actually want the Liger for himself but just wanted to protect Arashi because he knows just how dangerous the world currently is that's why he wouldn't accept him.

Even those grunts for Death Metal are causing a lot of problems, there are much worse out there than them, those elite 4 look scary, We saw Drake in the previous episode who might be one of them.

That crash course Bacon & Candy had Arashi do was an excellent experience for him, he learned so much from that time, of course he still has a long way to go but it was a massive help.

Good to see all that training paid off, they defeated those grunts easily, Bacon definitely accepts him now and looks like he wanted Arashi to join the team but he accepts that Arashi wants to form his own team.

Alright is now starting his journey, Drake is going to follow him though, I will be very worried if those 2 have an encounter, Drake's Zoid looks very strong plus he would have so much more experience.

Episode 4 is out now.

It's like this is an another Yugioh series.
The one has the voice of Arc-V protagonist and the other Vrains protagonist's partner.

I was glad when wild Liger sent Arashi flying, he was getting very annoying with all that team name stuff, I would have done the same thing and also would have done that thrashing in the scene afterwards.

I too would accept food from the enemy if I was that desperate, then I would have told them that the Liger was in some different direction to the one I would have been travelling to get them far away from me and I could make a quick get away.

Death blast, the moment Drake tried to insert the key and the powered up happened I had a feeling that it was forced unlike a wild blast, even Arashi sensed that Gilraptor was suffering because of it.

I wasn't expecting Arashi to win I thought he might escape somehow but that was quite the unusual ending to the fight.

Spoiler for Episode 5 Comments/Feedback:

Mystical Diamond Flower, I think those people in the village are just having fun with Arashi, he is the perfect subject though for that kind of thing.

Don't trust anyone Arashi, no surprise he just said all that stuff to a random person, Penne is a smart girl for taking advantage of the situation.

Ok so the flowers they were talking about are Midnight Herbs and are actually very useful being able to heal wounds, good thing they were able to defeat those 2 before they caused too much damage.

Penne knows about the Death Blast, she might have run into an elite four or seen one of them in action before.

Team Freedom, that's a much better name and now they have a cool image to go with it.

Penne will be the perfect person to have in the team if they travel together because she is a lot smarter than Arashi but she can also perform the maintenance and fix Zoids up when needed.

I have to say, things are getting interesting now.
I felt literally nothing more or less after watching four episodes.
But at 5, I felt something more.
The episode felt more like a real adventure.
The opening really grew on me.

Tohha is spot on when he said that Arashi doesn't look too bright.

A festival, sounds like fun, nice to see Arashi will fight in order to pay them back for their hospitality.

Oh wow look at who his opponent is, this should be a great match.

I was really enjoying that battle until Death Metal showed up to interfere.

We actually got to hear Kuroame speak, he also shows a lot of passion when doing a wild blast and his zoid looked really cool transformed and showed great power to defeat those grunts.
