That's your problem, you "hear" rap, you don't listen to it.

But I agree with you MOST, not all of the rap of nowadays is crap. But there are some good stuff out there.

The best rap really was in the 80s, old-school rap owns.

By the way, it's the same with rock/metal, today's rock/metal sucks ass compared to the greatness of the 70s/80s

I would like to direct you people to the intelligent hip hop/ rap discussion thread located right here:

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=49551

and people please take the time to do your research and avoid posting garbage like "RAP IS TEH SUXORZ" or some ignorant generalization about a genre that you only know about through the radio and public media.

Uhmmm...no.
That's just as stupid a generalization as dismissing a whole genre.

i dont like crunk, hyphe and snap "music", they dont register as hiphop or rap to me, having said that i am a hiphop and rap fan, i do like a few rock songs here and there but i prefer rap - but i see a decline in quality within most genres of music these days....

p.s. i find most so called "rap" artists these day to b bubble gum hipPOP entertainers, i dont see any real gangster rap around either, for me gangster rap died with the demise of DeathRow and had a little comeback during the 99-01 period [with the chronic, last meal etc] - wether or not the demise of gangster rap is a good or bad thing is a different story - and i dont listen to only gangster rap either, incase i gave that impression.

Meh, if you consider today's rock good then you should consider rap good too. All genres of music nowadays are garbage.

There's at least as much awesome music around in every genre as ever...in fact probably much more. It's just harder to find.

Mike Shinoda is the only decent rapper IMO. Otherwise, I hate the genre itself especially the ones linked with gang violence. It does not make any sense at all.

reason(s)
I also agree. In my opion most " I hate rap" generalization could be condensed to " I hate gangsta or mainstream rap" I love indie-underground but at the same time I abosolutly hate mainstream rap. Most of the negative comments made on rap are mostly only true with mainstream. Really what you hear on t.v and the radio is just guys who can put on a Gangsta image and sell albums. Mainstream nowadaze is not even about the music. It's just a big popularity contest. Most of the ryhmes sound like something a 3rd grader who learned to swear would write.

Btw There is some good hip-hop being made now its just hard to find. Hip-Hop's not dead, It's just "underground"

So what were you saying then? Because to me it does sound like "music has to be easy to find in order for it to be awesome". Or rather the other way around: "If it ain't easy to find, it can't be awesome." What did you mean to say if that's not it?

Ok, then I did understand you right after all. And I strongly disagree. Many awesome artists, albums and songs never will get the broad appreciation they deserve.
