To Aru Majutsu no Index - Anime General Discussion [NO SPOILERS]

Wow, what a lame katana fighter. Give me Yomi, Saya or Kagura any day of the week.

Using wires is about as lame as it goes. You have a katana. Unsheath it and slice the guy for Pete's sake. Also, Touma was in position for a groin kick and instead talked to her. Hey I don't care if she is a girl. Groin kick her, disarm her, break her katana thumb and legs with the katana and then talk to her. This wasn't a fight episode but an episode for 2 sides to come to an understanding.

I'll be more sympathetic towards the episode after learning more about Index when the subs come out.

In the manga it's pretty clear that Kaori is way superior in this kind of middle range combat. From a balance perspective, it's reassuringly reasonable. If you look at it, Touma has protection from magic and is thus a foil for the biggest guns which are the most powerful espers and mages. Then again, he's losing against those fighters that use mostly normal weapons with only amplification magic (like Kaori). It's a sign of a properly designed world.

I wasn't able to understand most of the critical part, but if what I heard was correct (essentially questioning her friendship towards Index), he definitely deserved the royal smackdown when Kaori tilted. And to be honest, it was both scary to see the ferociousness of Kaori's attack, and yet strangely pleasing at the same time. Touma had it coming and deserved it.

One well placed kick by Touma would have ended the fight for her.

It wasn't realistic to be in that position and not attempt a punch or kick to the groin. The knee caps were at reach too. Touma needs to street fight properly and stop being a nice guy.

Erhm - seriously now, don't you think that this isn't gonna lead anywhere? I honestly prefer not to see the finesses of "streetfighting" on display in my anime, thank you ^_^;

Well if you're going up against a katana, I'd prefer to see Tenjou Tenge fighting or something similar to common sense fighting.

I was just giving my opinion on fighting style preference.

Well, I wouldn't say he totally deserved it. The actions of both were not all that justified.

It's hard to see Kaori's snapping as anything but... err... not sure about an English word... "逆ギレ". Very much so.

And on the other hand, we have Touma. Who plays the saint act and shouting about why she didn't do that or why this or why that, and acts like some hot-headed naive brat. That can be annoying too...
That's the thing about Touma. From one side, he looks/seems like a cool protagonist, but looking from another side, quite a number of his actions can be irritating to watch.

As I've waded through all the spoils for ep 4, no one mentions what Mikoto and Kuroro did(or didn't) do. Yes, you can spoil me please .

was nothing, as expected. Completely bonus appearance.
They aren't even supposed to appear for a while, so without changing the story, these tiny bonus appearances are all they get...

Yet again, Kuroko and Mikoto end up seeing the remains of a magician vs. Touma fight.
Mikoto also catches sight of Index, but leaves her alone.
Judgment gets mentioned, too, but not explained.

Eh, I'm not too surprised since I already knew due to the manga, but I was hoping for a little something .

Well considering the Op I say they are going through 3 volumes.

Each volume featuring at least one damsel in distress. That's how Touma builds his harem.

Question ?? in comparison of the light novel version the encounter between touma and kaori are there big differences in the anime version ???

While looking at the poster on AniDB I noticed that there were several twin-versions of Mikoto, armed with machine guns and some weird glasses or whatever that is. Cyborgs? Separated at birth? Twins Quadruplets? While I dont mind more of Mikoto I find several ...versions of her kinda creepy.

Not really... It's pretty much the same, though monologue/descriptions/the usual are cut.

You'll find out... someday. If they follow this speed (5-6 episodes per vol.), it'll still be a few months before you find out.

It's not really a spoiler, since the image is posted right on the top of the official website, and they were in the PV.
They might as well do, 17-18 episodes for vol.1-3, and the rest for Railgun, until the first arc ends... I'd like that, anyways.
I mean, even Uihara and Ruiko appears in the OP! They need screentime too!
