You might want to read the summary for arc 4 and 5 on wiki. Visit Subaru page, Synopsis section. Emilia's spotlights and character development are in arc 4. For more context, read this whole thread lol.

And we aren't going to see arc 4 getting an adaptation anytime soon.

I'm very surprised. I haven't read any of the source material so I think it's better to ask here to know if there were some huge disparity between the adaptation's script and the source material.

How this never raised alarms was quite understandable since he never said it directly. However things are quite strange if you think about them. Setting aside things like sudden mood swings and super lows all of a sudden. Subaru literally just screamed this in front of her.

I wouldn't say it's as close as the Emilia lap pillow scene. That part was totally avoided by saying anything about dying. This time Subaru said things not only about his death, but her death as well. It was so grim that he kept saying things like many people dying and such. I know might be injecting too much sense into this but that totally says someone might have a premonition.

It´s clear he loves both of the girls, how this is going to develop is what intrigues me but I still belive Emilia always comes first for him. Most likely we won´t see a second season for at least 3 years, there is no way they are going to leave the anime like that with the succes it already has.
