[PC] Archeblade - Multiplayer Fighting Game
So I saw this on Steam and initially ignored it because free-to-play, but then I saw some video on a Youtube channel and realized, hey, this isn't an MMO at all.
So Archeblade... it's basically what would happen if TERA Online and Soul Calibur went out together, got roaringly drunk, had unprotected sex and then didn't abort the bizarre mutant Engrish-spewing baby. A third-person multiplayer PvP-only beat-em-up, for lack of a better description. And yeah, it's pretty weird--but damn if it isn't fun. The combat feels really, really similar to TERA's free-target combat (though it completely lacks any lock-on skills with one particular exception) and it's straight-up action, like playing a console tournament fighter where you can fight 3v3, 8-player FFA, 7v7 capture-and-hold and other game types. Don't pay any attention to the story, though. What little paper-thin plot there is has been so badly translated it's hilarious; it seriously makes me think they just ran everything through Google Translate. Even the cash shop item descriptions are riddled with poor English, typos and misspellings. The game is currently in open beta through Steam's Early Access program, and it's free to play, but you can only access 6 characters per rotation without buying any. They sell skins and characters from the shop and nothing else (though there's a package deal for 20 bucks that gives you access to all 12 existing characters, their alternate color skin and a single random premium skin). Anyway check it out. It uses your steam ID to track your progress and whatnot (though there doesn't actually appear to be any way to look at your battle record yet), so if anyone picks this up and is interested in playing a few games with me, my steam name is the same as my name here. There was a story?
I've played a few rounds of this, it's pretty fun. I really enjoyed the pistol/rifle using character I forget the name of atm. The little goth ice user was alright, but I found the attack style to be... odd. She is always side stepping as part of her attack combos.
