I know a pretty good few, but this one's my favorite.
Left: Yoite (Nabari no Ou) Right: Ren Tobari (Digimon Xros Wars: Time Traveling Hunter Boys) Seriously, Ren looks like a younger Yoite! They both have dark hair, both wear huge gatsby caps, both are villains (at least, Yoite starts off as one in the beginning), and both are normally quiet and reserved, though dedicated to their tasks. Oh, did I forget to mention that Ren's last name is Tobari? Y'know, like Tobari Durandal Kumohira, who is ALSO from Nabari no Ou? I just HAD to get this out in the open. Also... Left: Kyouya Ohtori (Ouran High School Host Club) Right: Kaname Tsukahara (Kimi to Boku) Uhhh...WHY HAS NOBODY I KNOW NOT NOTICED THIS?!? It's sooo obvious!! They're like twins! Both have black hair, both wear glasses, both are academically smart and high in achievements, and both are easily irritated and annoyed by the whimsical antics of their friends, though Kyouya is more calculating and calm and Kaname is part of the student council and is much more irritable and easy to annoy, but for different reasons (not relating to blood type, which is the former's). Oh! Forgot this one! Left: Ayanami (07-Ghost) Right: Rei Ayanami (Evangelion) Same last name. Need I say more? Left: Marie Antoinette (Rose of Versailles) Right: Mami Tomoe (Madoka Magica) They're both blonde, beautiful, and wildly irresponsible, aren't they? Last edited by FireChick; 2012-01-10 at 16:08. |

And also most of the comparisons in this thread do not look alike to me. The closest was Obelisk ze Tormentor's comparison of Kallen and Aki. For example Xenio's comparison of Victorique and Shinku, both anime I've never watched before. From what I can see from just the 2 images provided, they have completely different design and personality. Eyes: different colour, type, angle, eyelash, distance between eyes, eyebrow angle, Shinku also has longer lower lashes. Even though both noses are only composed of one stroke, they are different in position. Shinku has a much lower nose, making her look a bit more mature. Victorique's bubblier cheek also makes her look younger. Both have small mouths, but the edges are angled differently, Shinku also has a much thicker lower lip. Their hairstyle and clothing are also completely different. Straight bangs, feathered, chopped side hair and twirls, Shinku also seem to have tied up her hair. Victorique wears black and white and Shinku is brightly coloured with red and green. There are virtually unlimited factors one can consider in character design. Not just in the face, it could be anything from length and thickness of neck, angle of nape, slope of shoulders to proportion of limbs to shape of toes and colour of nails. And in cartoons, do characters even need to be human?

When you simplify in drawing - you reduce information and therefore reduce possible variation. And the thread isn't about *identical* copies but *similar* copies.

Fighting games seem to like paying homage to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as there are quite a few fighting game characters that look similar to Jojo's cast.
For example, Jean Pierre Polnareff (from Part 3) and Nikaidou Benimaru (from King of Fighters), SNK staff even call Benimaru Polnareff. From the Street Fighter franchise alone, we have three characters that look like Jojo characters. I guess it's fitting that Capcom themselves eventually adapted Jojo into video games. Guile looks like Rudolf von Stroheim (Part 2) Rose like Lisa Lisa from Part 2. She's even from Italy and Lisa Lisa was introduced when main character Joseph went to Italy. Han Juri looks like an evil version of Kujo Jolyne (Part 6). |

Man, it's so ridiculously easy for two anime characters to look alike. Because of the nature of the art style itself -- minimalistic lines, similar styles, lack of facial wrinkles, exaggerated eyes and underemphasized noses and mouths -- there are only so many features that can vary to make a character look unique. I mean, if you systematically go through all your anime, chopping off the hair of every one, you'll notice that they all tend to have the same basic facial structure.
So, in answer to this thread, I say: They ALL look alike. xD
