Man, what an impressive episode. If this show's animation quality is generally great, this week it was simply outstanding. Too bad the fight wasn't really the fight I was expecting, too short and one-sided.

You guys seriously believe Furuichi is dead? It does look that way (he did basically destroy his own head after all), though i wouldn't be surprised if he appeared again at a later point in the story. We don't fully understand what the Xam'd is capable off yet. I'd rather it be his death though, because his time in the story has pretty much ended.

First half of the episode was just insane --- the visuals especially. I couldn't help but laugh a little and giant head Furuichi, because that was just crazy. Oh and what's this, the return of Akiyuki's Xam'd form, and finally the confession from Haru. It's not like we needed the confession because it's something we've known for since forever, though it was still nice --- plus Akiyuki heard it.

So Akiyuki has amnesia and is being taken away by a bunch of mystery men. Quite the turn of events, though i do like where this is going now.

May have been quite a while without a new episode, though i never forgot just how good this show is.

I'm not counting Fururichi out just yet, but I am impressed by his inventiveness in becoming his own personal guillotine.

So, this episode had everything I didn't expect to happen happened all at once . Seriously, I had no idea that things might develop in this manner when I finished watching episode 13 a month ago, and now I ended up going by the time I ended the episode.

Spoiler for Furuichi:

First off, Furuichi. I will say it right now; Furuichi is my most favourite antagonist in this show. He symbolized how destructive bottled emotions are and how they could end up making someone into a real monster and devour those who are closest to them (literally! ) but despite all what happened and what he has done, I can still sympathise with him as I can truly say that he was a good guy with feeling of misplaced inferiority and unrequited love who had went completely insane, becoming a pure person who only wishes to have drink with his beloved Haru, his best friend Akiyuki, and himself. I guess what I like about him is that despite the fact that he is insane, creepy and all, one could still say that he is not a villain, but rather a tragic character due to the circumstances surrounding him. And I do believe that Shiroth is right, this is most likely won’t be the last time we hear from Furuichi (though the head decapitation was a bit too much if you ask me).

Another thing is that Furuichi’s Xam’d form is not his normal one, as it seems that once he promises Nakiami, he might actually be able to form a Xam’d face and become like Akiyuki’s Xamd (we saw a brief look at its possible shape). It also seems like pure hatred prevents the Humanforms from turning to stone, something usually is supposed to make them do so.

As it stands, Akiyuki has better control of his power and now has Amnesia, Haru confessed her feelings and is captured by the Army, Furuichi commuted suicide, and Nakiami had to leave him behind on the hopes he would catch up to her (which, judging from next episode, will be soon) and also, Sannova seems to be back next week. NOW this was worth waiting 4 weeks for . Too bad we won’t be getting this before Japan anymore. Wait, we never did get it in the first place D:

On a side not, the track on about 19:00 was beautiful. I hope there is an OST on the way.

I just don't think his time in the series has ended. There's still more they could do with him, though if they decide not to bring him back i completely understand why. His last scene, counting why he needs three drinks was splendid, and i'd be happy if that was his last scene.

Also i forgot to mention how the flashback at the start of the episode was one of my favorite scenes from the episode.

Ishu's scene was also fabulous. That made me laugh quite a bit.

I agree, it was a really nice scene, shining some light on Furuichi's mentality, though I still say that the scene when Akiyuki fell into the water is my absolute favourite if due to the BGM only

Funny how there seems to be nothing on OST/DVD/News/Scans about this show. I remember only one scan in Newtype but after that there were no announcements at all. I hope they will release the OST.

They've used that piece around 3 times now --- each being pretty powerful moments in the series. It is a beautiful track.

The fact that there hasn't been much mention of this show makes me believe we won't be seeing a soundtrack release anytime soon. Maybe if the show ever airs in Japan, or when the DVD's are released.

Damn that was one heck of an episode to return to Xam'd with. I mean Furuichi removed his own head that's just crazy right there. With all the discussion of him possibly coming back I really can't ignore the possibility. Still I'll assume he's gone and if he comes back then deal with that later.

Seeing Furuichi lose it was quite strange to watch. A very odd feeling overall I had to say. Though he really threw what he had at anyone around. Was kind of weird at the end when he kept tossing Haru back in. Finally he pushed Akiyuki too far and got beaten down pretty badly as a result.

Honestly didn't expect things to finish up like this. Haru is in a rough spot in the military and fairly isolated. Akiyuki is in a really ugly position himself with not fully coming back to normal yet and not having his memory. At this rate it could go badly for him since he does need to remember just who he is.

Overall a really good episode. Lot of surprising moments and fun to watch.

Wow like others I also forgot how good this show was. Really glad to have it back even though I am following so many things this fall season.

Spoiler:

The final image of Akiyuki with the X'amd face looked really cool but now I am really worried about him. I guess the next episode or so will center on him getting away and remembering himself again. It will be interesting to see what triggers this. I am going to miss the Akiyuki & Nakiami interaction though.

As for Furuichi I think he is dead, I mean I think if you kill your human self then the X'amd would also be dead. But then I am not really 100% sure about this. That was quite a last scene for him.

I was now able to watch episode 14 and something interesting came to my mind.

When Furuichi kills himself, it seems to me, that he rips of his head and throws it away. My question would be, why would someone do this, if he just wants to commit suicide?
I would guess, that because he is Xamd, that the head could possibly regenerate the rest of the body. So I would agree, that this was not the last time, that we saw him.
