Latest volume of Comic Alive contained some messages from creators before the airingvof the anime. They're too blur on the reuploaded version in that post but the post's op say it can be sure that the show will have actual plot instead of cute girl doing cute thing only, and there's a military background

Next volume Comic Alive will include spin-off novel for this series.

Official twitter account keep retweeting sd character stickers people get by buying the character song CD, and there're things like shell/propeller icon on these stickers. If I read correctly there's also a torpedo-shaped pillow holded by a character

Episode 1

Yeah, this is definitely not the typical slice of life with cute girls just doing cute things.

It gave me the Girls und Panzer vibe as well but with naval themes. Aniplex really pushed this show with their promotions so I expect good things coming from the show. So far, I think it's fairly good, exceeded my initial expectations. There's even some naval action too, something that I did not anticipate until seeing the episode. The main girl got promoted to captain...was not expecting that either.

Lol, is it also just me or does that cat seem to look like it's asleep?

I look forward to more for this show.

Episode 1 was pretty good. It definitely reminded me of Girls und Panzer, though the stakes are higher here.

Can't wait for episode 2.

Well.....what the heck was that?

I didn't think this would be the show that had me baffled after the first episode.

A lot of things that you'd expect early on. The genki MC being the captain of the underdog ship, the first-mate who looks like she'll have a tough time after being passed over despite her good grades and having to deal with her captain's quirks. Felt for her early on considering she was tackled to the ground.

No idea where the plot is going here.....but let's run with it I suppose.

More Serious version of GuP with ship insted of tank. We didn't learn much about the plot in this ep. so we have to wait for next ep.

Not sure how serious will this show be. Will someone die or it will be just mid-level serious like strike witches ? Will our MCs fire to kill or they will keep firing only dummy round just to disable enemy ship?

Also, Harekaze destroyer....Try google that name but nothing came out only closest name is Harukaze.

As for main characters, for someone who don't want to be captain, Akeno is quite capable in captain position.

Overall, good first ep.

Ayup ... Girls and Panzer except on naval war ships and with unexpectedly high stakes introduced out of the blue (no pun intended) that surprised and intrigued me.

Another keeper. Today is really paying off in terms of series I will follow!

Also ... I am sure the cat is actually behind it all somehow!

I don't remember the last time an anime blindsided me this hard in the first episode. Of course, it could all be just a two episodes ruse, but...

I'm starting to sense a pattern: wherever cute girls and the sea meet, there must be a cat somewhere. And is that Hanayo!?

No, seriously, is it the same VA? I kinda forgot about that for a moment after what happened at the end... Oh, and that massive cast. This one's a keeper for sure.
