For now, Discussion will continue in this thread. But, if the demand is high enough (say 5+ pages for a canon episode (that's just a personal figure, the other mods could want more)), then an episode thread set-upcould be the best way to go. Otherwise, we are thinking of using the One Piece Story Arc set-up or just using this thread.

Good enough episode, starts with Brain explaining Wendy's powers, and surprise, sky DS onboard! Even more of a surprise is the fact that she knows Jellal, and that he had saved her life in the past, oh and that HE IS STILL ALIVE! Also remarkable was Erza's determination, for a second there I thought FT would start the hand-chopping frenzy that rages on in bleach and yes, the bad teamwork of the alliance was highlighted, both in that event and afterwards, when Hibiki commented on it...

So glad the pacing is back to usual Fairy Tail standards.

I found the scene where Erza wanted her arm cutting off was a bit more dramatic in the manga, though it wasn't that bad here. Of course the best part of the episode was Ichiya's return , along with Erza taking Lucy's belt by force.

& Jellal makes his appearance. Great music placement there. I'm sure the questions will start to take over from the manga readers.

Quite a good set-up episode. As standard format for Fairy Tail, the good guys get beaten up easily by the bad guys first, and the second round, I am sure they will overcome all obstacles and defeat the baddies.

Spoiler for Wendy and Jellal:

Due to the ending credits, I am almost positive that the Wendy/Jellal relationship is not the correct one. Through modern uses of spoiling the viewers through opening and ending credits, it looks like Wendy will be related to Mystogan instead of Jellal, and this is a misguiding by Brain.

It's sad that spoilers like that abound nowadays that viewers, like myself, cannot avoid because we see it every week. It takes away the suspense and mystery in revelations like the one in episode 54.

If not for the ending credit spoilers, I would have been wondering what the relationship Jellal has with Wendy, and how they came about meeting up, considering he spends most of his time on that island. Also, I would have been curious how he made the council, what good did he do? Alas, now I am left with wondering when the will throw the red herring and reveal Mystogan as Wendy's true savior, with the backstory involved in that, which is sad, since this revelation would have been great if not for ending credit spoilers.

The story arc approach sounds good to me, thanks for clarifying what will/could happen.

Still have to watch this weeks episode, gotta hit the interwebz me recons.

thats what my line of thought was also

my vote is for a story arc format, i think that would be best

So Wendy is an air dragon slayer, seems like she'll always have a power up available, so luckily Jura came in time to save everyone, surprised that Ichiya actually helped with his painkiller perfume, so wendy can use lost magic, specifically healing magic, wonder how she learned that when she's also a dragon slayer, honestly thought Erza would loose her arm, funny when she took Lucy's belt, luckily Gray saved her arm, finally get to know what Nirvana does, it turns all light magic into dark magic, so Wendy wanted to ask Natsu about the dragons disappearing, so Brain wants Wendy to heal Jellal, i don't see anyway how Jellal could have saved Wendy's life

Dragon Slayer magic is lost magic. This might be lost in translation, but the "Sky" is also "Heaven" so there's an implication of holy dragon magic, which probably involves healing. So rather than being a dragon slayer and knowing lost healing magic, she knows the lost Sky Dragon Slayer healing magic.

Why is he in the coffin isn't such a bad question, not because of Mystogan part. After all we saw him swiming in the water after Laxus arc.
