is my ram ok...?

when i checked my ram i only have 61mb left out of 511mb..is that ok..? also is there a way to get back my lost ram instead of going out to buy more ram...

ps:is ram really important and what excatly is ram? ...yes i am a noob..

It's ok, though it looks like some program is hogging up a lot of your RAM.

You close your idle programs, or, to get better results, boot your computer.

RAM (random access memory) is a way of temporarily storing information. Let's just say that it's one of the most vital parts of your computer.

I would say 61mb unused is way too low. Does your windows(?) utilize v-mem? Windows is pretty bad in managing ram so I would recommend you increase your v-mem if you have it set "too low".

I suggest setting swap on other hdd (not partition) to get good results when swapping also set swap to fixed size (dynamic swap is horrible in windows). Windows virtual memory managment is horrible, but you have to live with it

shift-control-escape to bring up the task manager. Go to the 'processes' tab, click on 'mem usage' to sort by memory usage. What are the top few things listed & how much memory are they using (image name & mem usage are the only really important ones)?
