After the last few short spoilers, the latest one is surprisingly detailed:

Spoiler for 260:

Monspiet asks his partner if she's serious about giving up her decree. Derrierie answers that she's lost confidence as a commandment. And while she acknowledges the other clans as her enemies, as recalls her sister being killed by Stigma, she thinks of Elizabeth and the humans who risked themselves to save a demon like her. The two then talk a bit more about Deri's sister before the village girl from before arrives and tries to get them to evacuate. However, [i]the young woman is suddenly burnt by Estarossa!!![i]

An enraged Deri attacks Esta, but he knocks her back with Full Counter. He then proceeds to extract the village girl's soul and is about to eat it, but.... it turns out he chomped on an apple instead. It was Monspiet who used his magic to switch the soul with the fruit! As he attacks the Commandment of Silence, he tells them he came for their decrees. Interestingly, Monspiet says that should he be released of his commandment, he'd be able to tell Derrierie what he kept concealed in his heart. Esta doesn't seem to care, as rather than giving the decrees to Zeldris, he wants to keep them all to himself!

Monspiet uses his magic (apparently called "Conjurer Joke") to switch places with Estarossa, putting him in a headlock. He then drops a major bomb: Estarossa was born WITHOUT the power of darkness! This was a secret that all Commandments except Esta himself knew. As a child, Esta was a timid kid who'd even hesitate to kill a bug, so eventually his father, the Demon King, granted him the Commandment of Love out of pity. And while the decree awakened Esta's powers of darkness, it also turned him mentally unstable! Finally, Monspiet explains that if Esta were to absorb another commandment aside from his own, it would DESTROY him! As Esta begins passing out from the chokehold, Derrierie approaches the two, asking what they'll do with him now. Monspiet tries to warn her not to get any closer, but it's too late: Esta grabs her neck and proceeds to attack! Saying he had something to tell her, Monspiet switches places with Deri, and ends up getting one of his hearts ripped out....!!!!

Man, every couple in this manga can't get a break, huh ?? I hope Monspiet won't just die like that.

The part with Estarossa was surprising, but I guess Estarossa's younger self in his flashback looked way less sinister than now. And it seemed like Commandment of Love is the least favorite of all.

Was Estarossa taking all the commandments to himself purely because he is unstable, or are there any ulterior motives ??

I'm also wondering the same thing as Glavenus. Either way, though, we got some interesting info here. And I already expected that Estarossa wanted to keep the commandments to himself instead of giving them to Meliodas. Really can't trust that guy.

That was an interesting reveal. The part about Estarossa dying if he were to absorb another commandment will most likely turn out to be wrong though, since he's been set up as a major antagonist (he wants Elizabeth, the Archangel want revenge on him for killing Mael, etc...). But thinking about it another way, if Meliodas took his commandment from him, would he return to being a good person?

Another thing: are we shown the moment his father gave him his commandment? I want to know if he looked like an adult already. I'm thinking the reason he looks so much older than his brothers is because he had no powers to stop/slow down his aging.

Holy fuck so Deriere's sister loved Monspiet, but he loves Deriere. Now I feel sad.

Edit: Turns out the reason why Meliodas' wanted poster looked like Estarossa is because the people in the Kingdom pictured his appearance ten years later. So much for our theories

@Kanon: I'm also wondering if Estarossa will really die if he took any more Commandments. But either way, I also want to see if he'll turn good and/or regain his sanity if he lost his Commandment(s) (depending on whether or not he takes any more in addition to the Love one).

Monspiet and Derrieri only have one heart left IIRC, so Monspiet looks pretty screwed. Although given his powers, he can probably switch the heart with something else before Estarossa crushes it.

Heh, that tidbit about Mel's bounty poster was actually part of the spoiler, but I forgot to post it over the main content, my bad. But yeah, amusing to think that the drawing resembling Estarossa turned out to be a total coincidence, lol.

Anyway, it most certainly does seem that this could be the end of Monspiet. Sure, it may be possible for him to switch his heart, but as SilverGlavenus said, can he survive long enough with no heart in his body to pull it off? Esta would probably crush the organ before he got the chance. I also doubt Derrierie can help in time either, as strong as she may be. And honestly, I'd say Monspiet revealing his desire to confess his feelings to Deri is about as a big a death flag as you can get, if you ask me.....

BTW, I wonder if Monspiet's switching magic explains why his mouth seems to randomly disappear so often?

Okay, just checked out the full chapter. So, it turns out that part of the reason why the demon army fled was thanks to Elizabeth, who spoke to the demons' hearts and souls, trying to convince them to stop fighting. The archangels even point out that several demons lost the will to fight and retreated despite it meaning that they'd be disobeying the orders of their superiors, Chandler and Cusack. Looks like Elizabeth's powers of persuasion are not to be underestimated. And now especially looks like a good time to put them to the test with the current Derrierie situation....

Derrieri herself will probably be easy for Elizabeth to persuade. The real question is if she can persuade the other Archangels to let her live, as Kanon said.

^Nah, I think she may sacrifice herself in order to be with Monspiet, one way or another. It's not like she is innocent either, she killed a lot of humans and suddenly falling in love will not redeem her.

Right now she probably hates Estarossa the most though, so her interests and that of the Archangels align. I wouldn't exclude the possibility of her becoming an ally.

Deri says she didn't get a chance to hear him confess what he kept hidden in his heart, but he answers that as he's no longer able to protect or stay by her side, it's meaningless now. After making her disappear, Monspiet then creates a gigantic Hellblaze explosion, consuming both himself and Estarossa.....!!!! Back at the battlefield, the allied forces emerges victorious, with the demon army making their retreat. Hauser orders to let the defensive forces handle the fleeing demons. Later, he's joined by Deathpierce of the Pleiades, who despite getting severely injured in the earlier battle, is perfectly fine now. He credits Ludoshel's power for this, but Elizabeth tells him not to be so reliant on that temporary power. She explains that Breath of Bless (aka "Cheat Hope") puts the target in a euphoric state, eliminating their senses of fear and pain. The archangels back up her explanation, saying that Breath of Bless doesn't heal injuries..... that was all Elizabeth's doing. In fact, without her help, half of them would be dead already! Interestingly, Gowther points out that in the past, Elizabeth earned the praise of Mael, who was known as the strongest of the archangels. Soon after their chat ends, Gowther notices someone coming their way. It's a Commandment! Hauser immediately orders to get into a formation, but they notice something's amiss: It's Derrierie who's approaching them, who has a distraught look on her face.... There's obviously a reason for that, and it's not to hype Escanor since we've already seen the full extent of his power. I'm starting to believe those theories about him fusing with Estarossa, which would explain Estarossa's memories of Elizabeth. As for Derrieri, her fate lies in Elizabeth's hands. Specifically whether she can convince the archangels to let her live. __________________
