Well finally!!

I just hope that by the time the pc version comes out, the modding community will still care enough to make some dope modes for the open world

The most surprising part is that this is a free DLC.

So....

This morning a new quest was unlocked in Assassin's Creed: Origins...and guess who showed up there?

TL;DR…

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

And, yes, I AM posting in the right thread. Sorta.

EDIT: didn't notice it immediately (I'm still roaming the Meidoum area, looking for tombs to explore) but there is a spoilerish bas-relief on the temple wall behind the sundial...

TL;DR…

So before I think about buying anything, what are the differences between the original release and the Royal Edition? And is there a DLC update to upgrade my original copy hard drive data to the Royal edition, or do I have to get the Royal Edition as a whole new game?

A quick google search says there is a DLC update option for people who already own FFXV.

The royal edition is the same as the base game but with a code in the box for the season pass + royal pack upgrade dlc.

Shamelessly copying from reddit:

Quote:
Royal Pack
  • Expanded Map: Insomnia City Ruins – all-new side quests and enemies such as Cerberus and Omega will be available through the expanded map of the Crown City of Insomnia. Players will also take on the Rulers of Yore.
  • A new first-person camera mode, allowing players to experience the game from Noctis’ perspective.
  • A fully-controllable Royal Vessel boat, expanding the world of Eos and allowing players to explore the area between Cape Caem and Altissia. Players will also be able to fish aboard the vessel and discover new fishes and dishes.
  • A new accessory that can activate the new action “Armiger Unleashed” - players will be able to unleash powerful attacks while the Armiger is summoned. After collecting all of the royal arms, players will be able to find an accessory in an unidentified part of the world, enabling access to Armiger Unleashed.
  • Archive – players can review the “Cosmogony” stories scattered throughout the FINAL FANTASY XV world. Additional local myths and legends will also be placed in various new locations, allowing players to obtain more information about the world.
  • Quest to obtain and Strengthen Regalia Type-D.
  • New Trophies

shouldn't the season pass include the royal pass? That was the purpose of it to get all future dlc and expansions

Why can’t I ask actual people who know? I always prefer to ask and get direct answers from actual people, whether it be forum members or store employees, as I’ve been burned by and wasted money on answers found from “quick google searches.”

Thanks for all that.

So as far as the main game is concerned, there’s no new content? I thought I (accidentally) saw videos on YouTube of new cutscenes from the main story. I didn’t go back to verify though, because I didn’t want to spoil myself.

Season Passes only cover DLC for the "Season" or year they were made for.

Season Pass was for 2017 DLC while Royal Pack is 2018, hence different according to Square-Enix.

Agreed, very stupid thinking.

Gee, excuse the hell out of me. You could've done it yourself and found the same sources Dextro and I did, but apparently that's too good for you.

Apologies. Won't happen again.

Story wise, there are a tiny number of new transition cutscenes that are added to early chapters. The meat of story additions is in the endgame chapter 14, where there is basically an entire new/expanded dungeon map and new boss fights where before it was a straight line to the finish.

Gameplay wise, the biggest additions are character swap (implementations of the DLC into the main game) and Armiger Unleashed, which is a proper combo based fighting style for Noctis that can be unlocked with an accessory after fulfilling certain conditions.
