Yes, it takes two to tango and Makoto isn't absolved of guilt or any such.
However, Makoto himself seemed to be a very confused guy at the beginning of all of this. He didn't know how to go about a relationship and leaped in to the physical stuff right off.
When Sekai gives him those lessons, she pretty much does him in right then and there. He can't get his mind off of her and not wanting to hurt Kotonoha, he avoids her. It's pretty obvious though that he knows what he is doing is wrong and yet Sekai's acceptance of such behavior only encourages that.

Should he have went to Kotonoha and broke it off after he found himself in love with Sekai? Yes and he is a bastard for not doing so. However, I think Sekai should have made sure of it herself that he had broken up with her, particularly after Kotonoha kept claiming they were still going out.
Was Makoto ever in love? I wouldn't say so. He went with Sekai just because she gave him action and Kotonoha didn't. The only time I'd say Makoto was half in love was at the end, before his death, when he looked like cleaning up his act - but thinking it a little further, I think he was just running away from a pregnant Sekai.

Sekai is just as bad, but Makoto's no poor confused boy. I think he was well aware that he was playing all the girls. But you can't blame him entirely either...all of them acted with no self respect, were easy, and let him get away with it.

Conclusion: Everyone in this anime was a complete idiot.

Yeah...that really sums it up. I mean, yes, teens do make mistakes, but I think this bunch were quite good at it.

Of course not. But teens making mistakes in love is expected I guess, due to lack of experience.

However, these kids were exemplary of how stupid you can be at that age.

That was exactly why I enjoyed this show so much, I guess. The characters actually behaved like normal people, for once. Even the ending is not all that far-fetched, when you consider the horror stories you see or read about every single day, coming from every part of the world.
I thought their behavior was actually refreshing, in that sense.

Sekai even more so, I guess. She went, in a roundabout sort of way, after what she wanted - selfishly, unthinking (or uncaring) about the consequences - and got burned for it. We can't deny that the show's producers had balls, anyway.

Finally someone who shares my view... trust, I've had people telling me that Zero no Tsukaima was more realistic than School Days =.='...

My thought of Sekai ... .. .

Mh if i would be in this world(yeah sounds weird ), i would love Sekai.

A bit selfish but honest love. I think i would get along well with her.

But this story, Sekai was to stuppid.

Spoiler for last episode:

Well... How far would you go to be able together with the person, you love the most? I can understand Sekai.

She just killed the wrong person.

Everyone(as usual) judges a character just plainly by his/her actions...even if the watchers of the anime have the chance of the all-seeing eye and see the things from many people's eyes.
If you see her actions in the sense of motivation, enviroment, her feelings, and the actual scene(and to say...you have the chance for that) then your opinion from her surely changes...i just have no time for now to describe her and her actions because i'm short on time...but maybe tomorrow or at weekend.

Ultimately, you can only judge people by their actions.
The feelings are all nice and well, but it's a person's actions that register with others.

True and not true...an action stripped from the feelings and the atmosphere only shows the results...a mere action cannot be used as to describe someone's personality. the people have emphatic skills and logics to figure out from the facts the person's mind. And we watchers having an advantageus position here because we see the things from many aspects and sometimes even we know the person's inner toughts.

I, personally, prefer rude people who help others than overt saintly ones who spend all day meditating about the meaning of life and some such, secluded from human contact or whatever. Maybe that's just me - but, in my mind's eye, it's what you do that counts; not what you meant to do and didn't.

Hey, me too. She was my favorite in the show, and I felt sorry for her with what she went through - and I'm sure she would have gone through a whole other level of hell, if Kotonoha hadn't done what she did do to her, in the end.

But it doesn't change the fact that what she did to Makoto was completely and utterly wrong.
