I have conflicting thoughts regarding what we've seen so far: it's good, it fits with everything we know from Touma and Tsuchimikado, yet... I know its because of all the build up Crowley has had, but right now everything very... normal. I know its just the beginning, and I honestly like what I'm seeing, but this is very different from what I had imagined a confrontation with Crowley would be.

Then again, this is Index, so by the end of the volume we might end with something that makes the Gurren Lagann finale look tame, so lets see what the ride brings.

By the way, chapter 2 is up. All of it.

Aleister has them in the palm of his hands. Like Touma said, whatever they do has no effect and just pushes them further in his control, it's pretty masterful

Lol I'm not sure how he translated so much so fast. I'm curious as to where this is going, and hope the next update comes out soon... rather than not tonight... sigh.

Gonna leave out my impressions until the end for sake of not accidentally seeing spoilers. I think this might end up better than NT 9. So far so good. Am going to have to re-read NT 17 as well after finishing this before giving full impression of this volume since it's already clear that last volume is already tying into this volume in minor ways that are sure to be important for understanding some of the nuances for what's going on.

I like where this is going. I have a feeling based on spoilers and what I'm seeing that I know where NT19 will go but I'll save that for later. Regardless this is shaping up to be awesome.

Also good on Kamachi for tying Laura and Aleister together but I still bet Laura will survive this arc.

I wonder how many volumes this arc will be. Probably 3 or 4 at most.

Atwiki's NT18 subject list has been updated with terms; as expected, there are a lot of names connected to the Golden Dawn and other magical figures linked to the people involved. There's also a long title which might be some form of media. Additional information has also been added for Academy City, Imagine Breaker and the Blasting Rod. If it is correct, the Blasting Rod is apparently capable of amplifying the effects of magic tenfold based on the target's imagination. Anyway, some nice scenes with Maika, obviously to make the curse hitting her even worse. Nice thinking of Aleister to build the curse that way, tbh. We end the chapter with Touma and Tsuchi broing it up and deciding to go after Aleister. Besides that we have a Hamazura cameo and Mikoto still confused about the curse from last volume. Good first chapter so far.

Karma curse is even more based on it failing or being negated, and it can mess up magic too. However, the best parts of the chapter are the tidbits Touma is getting of Aleister's life and the conversation between Mikoto and Misaki, both cute and interesting since they discuss their status of Level 5s and their relations with power. It is nice seeing them talk like this with friendly banter, really feels they are becoming better friends.
