Just a couple of days ago, Nippon Ichi announced "Project D." That game has now been confirmed as Disgaea Dimension 2, a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. This sequel will pick up right after where the first game in the series left off, and will feature Laharl as the, uh, 'hero.' Etna and Flonne will be back too, and the gameplay will follow the traditional SRPG style the series usually features.
As for the limited edition, it will be available for the PS3 on March 20th of next year for 10,800 yen ($136 USD). A standard edition will also be released at the same time for 7,140 yen ($90 USD). The limited edition will include a hard cover art book, a two CD soundtrack, plus Niitengo figures of both Etna and Flonne. If you pre-order the game, you'll even get a code to download special "legacy costumes" for Laharl, Flonne and Etna.

More news is sure to be released about Disgaea Dimension 2 soon, so keep checking back!

i might be a little late on this info. i saw Tong's post on the new disgaea game, but
no one created a new thread for it. it's official and we'll be getting a new Disgaea game
starting Laharl and crews again. waiting on more info. from Nis currently.

your thoughts? me? i'm SUPER excited for a new Disgaea game!

I'm still hoping for D4 cameo characters eventhough it seems that this happens between D1 and D4

Doesn't Nippon Ichi generally follow the credo of all previous sets included? Every successive game in the Disgaea series seems to include the usual rogues gallery plus the cast of whatever the last game was so I would expect to see the likes of Adell, Roz, Mao, Asagi, Zetta, Marona, Priere, Marjoly etc. along with the ever increasing list of cameos and references from popular anime of the time.

They might have some way to make them appear in this game, yes.. but considering that D2-D4 story might not have happened yet, their appearance might be a little bit..strange. Looking at D2-D4 cameos, eventhough they're cameo characters we can still see a little bit of development that makes them follow a certain timeline. For example we could see Zetta actually has his body again in D4 while he still in the form of book in D3. Most prominent example might perhaps be Flonne in angel form and how she appears to recognize Raspberyl in D4..

but since this one happened right after D1, we might not see those cameo characters and how they develop from their original story

It's not a big deal though since their 'development' have never been that much to begin with... but it really kills the possibility of seeing a cameo character with more development than their original counterpart.

Since NIS put Fuuka and Desco in Disgaea 3 Return and Raspberyl in Disgaea 2's PSP port, I'm sure they'll work D2-D4's characters as cameos in somehow. If not, they'll at least be DLC.

Either way, I've been wanting a new game starring the main trio for a while now so I'm pretty excited. It'll be nice to finally have them not just be running gags in the post game.

interesting. so Dimension 2 is just like a continuing story of the previous game (in
which most of us already know), i didnt expect Disgaea 5 to be announced already
as well. lol, i though Dimension 2 would be the 5, but i guess not. if they're doing it
like Final Fantasy X-2, then i really hope they continue the story for Disgaea 4. i want
to know what happen after main character + Artina get together!

so can i rename this thread to Dimension 2 / Disgaea 5 now? or do we need another thread
for Disgaea 5 as well?

They gave Laharl pants? And why does he look taller and more mature than any of his past versions? Doesn't this take place after Disgaea 1 but before 4? What's with the long haired Laharl in the background as well? Can't be a girl due to no shirt....

Didn't notice that we have video updates. One thing that I don't like from it is that the use of sprite model for the character portrait

other than that.. I don't see many changes in gameplay but I guess we'll see about that.

Can't be a sister since there's nothing covering the flat chest, not even a strap. Perhaps an Alternate Laharl and that's an Alternate Flonne?
