It was surprisingly well-done. I just saw it yesterday, too.

Hi i have a question, i want to watch Macross, but from what i've seen that the original 36 ep series just wont cut it for me, its the way they act the style, but there seems to be an alternative: Macross - Do You Remember Love, from what trailer i've seen that seems like it would be something i could get into, my only concern is that if it feels rush or not, would i still get the most out of the 1st series and season by just watching Macross - Do You Remember Love ?

I definitely enjoyed watching Do You Remember Love more than the full 36 episode run of SDFM. DYRL does not replace SDFM, but if you find SDFM unwatchable, it covers the main plot points and (personally speaking) provides a much improved story line.

I think you should watch it and find out.

Thank you very much, from what you've described seems like i made a good call trying to start with the movie.

Not only you. The series gives a way better understanding of the characters. Same as with Frontier.

But fake Ohnogi is much more sympathetic to Sheryl.

At least I guess he is. ^^

True. But the REAL Ohnogi wrote a short story about Minmay, and a WHOLE NOVEL about Misa...

Yeah... I can't decide, either... Guess I'll go with Sheryl, since (being about forty years younger), she's, how you say, "FRESHER"...

Help figuring out a show

I posted this in another topic -
I was raised and grew up watching Robotech. I am now getting into the Macross side of things...reading up and I want to try and buy some of the movies/series. I do have a question though...I am hoping someone can help.

A few years ago i was flipping channels and came across Sci Fi showing an Anime fest which I HAD NO IDEA WAS ON! They were showing an anime that had SDF-1 in it but it was like a kiddy version. almost like a Powerpuff girls meet anime. SDF-1 was kind f chubby looking and short. No one seemed to know why the ship was there...or how to use it. Does anyone know what this show was? Every once in a while I search the Internet when I think of this show so I could watch the whole thing. ANy help?
----
It was suggested it was the Macross SD series...though that was hilarious I don't think it was that. It was more serious than that. It was almost like a show where every ones memories was wiped or something...they were all there on earth I assume but no one knew what the SDF was or why it was there. At the end I remember they got the ship t fire (I didn't mention that because I am trying to recall more about the show and I remembered that now). SDF was like it is in the Robotech series but more cartoonie. SO upset that I didn't figure out what it was...and even if it SUCKS I want to figure this out for my peace of mind to say finally THAT IS WHAT IT WAS! Now it was not Robotech itself...but..UGH! Help please.
