I voted for "Different Worlds". I think how baseball-centric the first and last one are might be a deterrent for some people who may otherwise enjoy the show (if advertising is the main purpose here).

Different worlds seems to be the best choice (I believe that might have been the first sig I used

The Cross Game manga has been licensed by Viz. Maybe this is old news, but I hadn't heard it before today.

I think we are pretty much set on the sig we will be using. If we could coordinate to start using the sig and avatar after Subsmith releases the sub tomorrow that'd be perfectt

Just be sure we have an approx similar number of lefties and righties

I was quite disappointed by this episode. It was full of fantastic moments, but only because of the original material. I thought they botched a number of scenes which were much stronger in the manga; that is what happens when you try to cram too much into one episode.

The main ones being: His disappointment in only reaching 158 km/h and not hitting 160km/h when he struck out Mishima. The nonchalance poker face he shows to Azuma and the 2-strike sign after Mishima hits one to the stand but in foul zone. Aoba's "After the win", countered by older Azuma's insistent "After the match." Aoba recalling what she inadvertently saw way back after Wakaba's death on her way back home from school - a crying Kou pitching against the wall. Unfortunately, the cashing-in-the-token moment was diluted - should have just spent another 20-30 seconds to show him passing the token to the home base umpire as was depicted in the manga. One more thing... I don't know what I'm missing on, but I'm trusting you on this one. Spoiler for Episode 49: Great episode, though the tension was somewhat lacking compared to 48 as Ottocycle said. Mishima's almost-home-run did get my mouth gaping for a few seconds anyway open. The scene of young Kou crying as he pitches against the wall was also a highlight, a few more seconds and I'd have been tearing up for the umpteenth time because of Cross Game. I'm pretty glad to think we've gotten to this point now. But there's still so much they could do in one episode anyway... one last week of anticipation. __________________

Spoiler for #49: * The "this is it" moment when Aoba believes he is going to reach 160. It went way too fast! * Mishima's jump to catch the ball. Underappreciated. * The whole sequence in which Ryuu-Oh scores is like a weird slideshow of the original manga panels. That either was quite a lazy storyboard here or a cheap way to spend as little time as possible on the scene, even though it is a crucial moment of the match that eventually sends them into overtime. * Although they did a good job with Mishima's near home run (especially having the BGM stop), Azuma's subsequent incredible catch scene did not have as much impact as in the manga. * The "kid hitting against the wall" flashback, botched. * Final sequence, botched. I now truly regret that nearly useless original episode from a few weeks ago.

Ottocycle Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Age: 37	Spoiler for 49: I quite honestly have to agree with the failure of the wall-pitching scene and the token scene, with the utter lack of detail and screentime devoted to them. And especially the token one. Not allowing that scene's impact its required time to sink in was utterly...ugh. But IMO it's better to botch these up than to screw up what will be coming next week. Something went wrong somewhere, merchandising, sponsors, human error, whatever, but at least it looks like the producers are taking no chances with the final episode. Plaudits for being further-sighted, at least.
