Speaking of Type-Moon's character relation... Here, if anyone is interested in Nasuverse character chart, you'll find the Kara no Kyokai characters in the middle:

Or is she using some kind of magic, too, just out of sight?

The actual fighting was rather brief, but Shiki doing that rooftop-hopping/sliding-across-the-roof trick was pretty wicked.

Still good.

Exactly what I thougt, wow she's hardcore. But even if it's an artificial arm, it's still hardcore.

Truly awesome animation.I want more, I don't even care about the story(well, it was intresting..But I want more animation like that, juste more......give me more...

Haha...I actually had the same thought when watching that and as KaneDragon puts it...yea...

She looked hot in just that shirt

As for the doll part...I had no idea why she even had a doll's arm to begin with, and just how much of her body is artificial. Little needs to be said how shocked I was to see her own hand come off during that scene as normally things like that are irreplaceable

Also, I'm not sure why I didn't mention this earlier, but...

...Shiki freaking force-choked a ghost. I mean, damn. That's pretty badass.

Now was it just me, or was Mikiya supposed to be the human vegetable for the large portion of the episode? B/c I vaguely remember him contributing to Toko's philosophical rant once or twice? Not waiting for Shiki to lynch the girl before deciding to "wake up".

I'm not sure it anyone noticed, but for anyone who know about fate stay night, dosen't the raincoat that Shiki put on strangely resemble the one Emiya made Saber put on the night they met?

Remember, it was Kara no Kyoukai that came before Fate/stay night --- so you'll wanna be saying that the other way around.

Kara No Kyokai came before all other type-moon works.

But the movie came out later, and there's no illustration of a rain jacket like that in the novel. I think,

woah. the film is beautiful. great cinematography and use of soundtrack.

I like how it stays faithful to the novel.

I hope this will bring more attention to the source material.

K.n.K novel needs more attention and love! (but mostly translators!)

D:

If you can't wait for the next film you can read ahead!

I just saw this and I thought it was great. The fluid animation really opened my eyes and drew me in.

Also, I liked the little claymation scene that ufotable is known for (I didn't even know they where the team that did this movie).

I like Kokuto's resemblance to Tohno Shiki. It's like double the Shiki.

I think she wanted more than a simple hug if you know what I mean. Heh I was expecting Mikiya to drop the Ice Cream he was holding in surprise.

Anyways enjoyed the movie, great animation and the fight scenes were great as well. I was a bit worried I would be overwhelm with the deep talk they used but thankfully it was understandable with what they said it didn't leave me confuse in the end. Music was pretty good and they used it well in the movie. Also Loved the Claymation scene as well good ole ufotable. Really enjoyed the Shiki and Mikiya moments hope we get too see more of that in the upcoming movies.

Now gotta wait one month for the next movie to come out...

I figured that the universe of Kara no Kyokai, while very related with that of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night, is an alternate and prototype of sorts considering that its story came before the both of them. Are you saying that Shiki and Shiki live in the same universe or continuity?

The first movie is great. Having preferred the mood and atmosphere of the Tsukihime anime more than Fate, I'm glad that Kara no Kyokai is more reminiscent of the former. It may have a slow pace, but image and music come together to gradually draw you into the story as it gently moves along. The backgrounds are nice too, coming off as vibrant, but connoting the eerie and the dark.

On the character side of things, Shiki's "masculine and crude" Japanese is particularly interesting to hear. And Touko is definitely my kind of woman, or female character, whichever is more suitable in this case.

Finally, this movie has a lot of interesting lines to share to its audience. I actually like its talky-ness, and I wonder what else lurks inside the head of the story's imaginative author.

All in all, a definite keeper. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

In the novel the story is told out of order and those conversations happened after the fight

great movie and bloody good soundtrack i would say

is it just me.. but i think what shiki said at the end "eat the strawberry" sounded like "eat me" (well you know.. eat me..sleep with her blablabla) followed with a blush
and also the boy said "you are a girl after all"

and then i went "oh they gonna do it" but snap the ed rolls in blech

because at the beginning the boy said that shiki is like strawberry, so eat the strawberry, eat shiki, and why would someone stay over just to eat strawberry ;D

please do tell that i'm not alone

Wow, I don't know if I would be that analytical about it, I just noticed that there was only one futon in the room.
