At the coffee shop after the 4 pictures deduction test. Given by L to Light, the tiny amount of gain 4% increase (it was 3% before) was really cool. Who would ever suspect someone of a number like 3, then increase it by 4, where does he get the numbers from? Perhaps that's just his super number-crunching abilities.

He gave a valid reason for that, though. If his grades suddenly dropped, it would be an obvious sign to L (or anyone else investigating him) that would make him more suspicious.

He needs to appear as normal as possible, which includes keeping his grades up.
